Are you new to Crypto? Are you new to NFTs, Smart Contracts, Metamask, and Web3 Applications? Then this short blog post might be for you. This is the shortest introduction possible if you want to create your first Wallet on Metamask, connect to Web3 applications, Mint an official NFT, and sell it on a secondary market (Opensea).
Buying your first NFT is relatively simple, but definitely nothing close to an eBay type of experience. Here are all the basic steps you need:
Install Metamask on your Browser
Deposit ETH in your Wallet
Connect to the Web3 Mint application, and Mint
Connect to Web3 Marketplace, and list it for sale
Install Metamask on your Browser
You can install Metamask on your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge) or smartphone (Android, iOS) on this link:
That should be smooth, but please keep your “Secret Recovery Phrase” safe. If you find any issues in the process, please visit the link below (they do a better job in explaining all the intermediate steps for this)
Deposit ETH in your Wallet
There are different ways to transfer FIat currencies (like USD, EUR, CHF, etc) to Cryptocurrencies (ETH, BTC, SOL, etc).
You can either go to the major exchange platforms (Binance, Coinbase, etc) or you can buy directly from your Metamask application. Just go to “Buy” on your Metamask front page (using either Wyre or Transak). Here is a screenshot of what Wyre first interface looks like:

When you have done that, you can check your balance on your Metamask wallet. If you have enough ETH (mind potential gas fees), follow the next steps.
Connect to the Web3 Mint application, and Mint
For the purpose of this tutorial, we are using Crazy Yugo Car Club as an example, but that is applicable to any official NFT collection Minting website.

In other to connect and Mint an NFT you can either click on the “Mint” button (“Mint a Car” in this example) and you will get a pop-up message from Metamask. Here is a screenshot example of what you will get. (from another NFT project).

Once you follow the steps and “confirm” the payment (Amount + gas fee), your NFT will be processed into your Wallet. It might take some minutes before the block is added.
Note: CYCC is using ERC-721A smart contract standards (built by Azuki). That means, that if you want to buy more than one NFT, you will still pay a one-time gas fee. Kudos to Azuki team.
Connect to Web3 Marketplace, and list it for sale
The next big step in this crazy web3 journey is connecting your wallet to a Marketplace. For simplicity, we are opting Opensea but there are many other valuable marketplaces out there.
For example, if you go to opensea.io you will be ask to connect your metamask wallet to their Web3 application.
https://opensea.io/collection/crazyyugocarclub
From there, if you got to your "Profile" page, under the "Collected" tab, you can select one NFT (or more) that you would like to sell. When opening the page, on the top-right hand corner you will find the SELL button. From there, there you will be able to list your NFT project for sale, and the page will look like this:

This is the end of this (hopefully) short and comprehensive introduction on “how to buy your first NFT”. For more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me (DM me on my personal Twitter account @nemastoja).
We are Helix Labs, a Swiss-based Web3 consulting company. Our first featured NFT project is Crazy Yugo Car Club, an experiment that wants to experiment Web3 core processes, Generative art and NFT smart contracts.
