This Week’s Winners and Losers in Crypto
Big week in crypto! Banks going down causing BTC to go up. Alts (sort of) following suit. But who are the biggest winners and losers for the week? Biggest Winner(s): Arbitrum Airdrop Participants Thursday was a big day for those eligible for the coveted Arbitrum airdrop, but there were bumps along the way. The claim site was down from almost moments when it went live, and was nearly inaccessible for hours. However, after the dust settled, the price hovered above what estimates predicted (>$1)...
Post FTX: Bananas In The Bahamas
FTX’s spectacular implosion sent ripples which was felt by all through the cryptoverse, but has also hit the people of the Bahamas, where FTX was headquartered. According to a report in the WSJ, the island nation initially welcomed FTX with it’s lax and favorable crypto laws and eventually the locals became the supporting cast for FTX employees. Catering, security, transportation, event planning, logistics and many more services were required and the locals began taking up these jobs, creatin...
STOCK Act Gets Busted
Nancy Pelosi might not be too keen on the reformation bubbling up in her backyard. Monday brought a storm other than Hurricane Ian, and we're all on the edge of our seats wondering what's going to happen next. Anonymous posted a video slamming Yuga Labs with a myriad of allegations including use of esoteric symbolism in BAYC art that they believe is the company's stance on topics such as Nazism, racism, and others. Anonymous has claimed these allegations are true via research and interviews with figures that studied this symbolism and those possibly with knowledge of the company. Yuga Labs has denounced these claims, with co-founder Greg Solano stating “[w]e’ve become the target of a crazy disinformation campaign accusing us — a group of Jewish, Turkish, Pakistani, and Cuban friends — of being super-secret Nazis.”
Anonymous can be a scary entity. They've always claimed to protect citizens and the innocent from the evils and horrors of humanity. And usually, their actions seem to move in that direction as well. So this particular claim makes me wonder if Anonymous got it wrong...or if Yuga Labs is actually suspect. A friend sent me a similar type of video detailing the same allegations against Yuga, and although some of it made sense, I thought "meh, this can't be real". But now, I'm thinking "uhh could it be?" We'll see what happens soon enough...
