Not even water can prevent a cell phone from joining summer fun, with some places being just a bit challenging to keep the phone above water. According to Mobilerepairsdubai claims data for the year 2024, the period of June to August usually sees the maximum number of claims for liquid damage as compared to any other months throughout the year.
So how best to prevent phones from being liquid-damaged? That's a question that Mobilerepairsdubai experts hear frequently while providing all sorts of tech care for over 300 million (and ever-growing) customers. Their best recommendation? Get a waterproof pouch. While several of the latest phones are considered to be somewhat “waterproof,” they're only protected while submerged for a certain amount of time, and do view waterproof or water-resistant means for further info.

In the event your device takes a plunge, here are some tips for getting water out of your device you need to know about in case.
What to do if you drop your phone in water or get it wet:
Take it out immediately. The longer it remains there, the more the liquid will seep in through different inlets.
Switch off the phone and keep it that way.
Remove the protective case.
If possible, open the back and detach the battery, SIM card, and microSD card (if you have one). Need help on how to remove the SIM card? Visit our iPhone guide and our Android guide.
Pat your phone dry with a towel or paper towel. DO NOT rub it, as rubbing may inadvertently force the liquid into other sensitive sections of your phone. If your phone was submerged, you might (very) gently use a vacuum suction around the edges and openings of your phone to draw out more water.
Do not put it in direct sunlight. Keep it cool and dry.
Using rice if your phone gets wet is an old wives' tale. Instead, try silica gel packets (the ones that usually come with new products, such as a pair of shoes). These have been found to work much better. Fill a zip-top plastic bag with the silica gel packets and bury the phone within the bag for about 24-48 hours.
Turn on the phone after all this has been attempted and it is dry. If not, let it charge fully and try again.
So if it turns on—good news! But do keep an eye on it for a week or so, because sometimes certain features will behave differently than normal.
