"Human Dignity and Social Status" Perhaps the most important task of the modern corporation is to reconcile the contradictions between justice and dignity, between equal opportunities and social status. The modern corporation is a product of the liberal economy and market society. A market society, unwilling to pay attention to the unsuccessful majority, has become a follower of Calvinism, which was uninterested in the majority not chosen for salvation. According to the English philosopher Herbert Spencer, this position is now commonly expressed in Darwinian terms ("survival of the fittest") rather than theological ones. But this does not change the fact that the philosophy of market society sees the failure as "rejected by God," pitying whom is as sinful as questioning God's decisions. However, we can only deny the failure social status if we are convinced that economic failures are, firstly, always the individual's own fault and, secondly, a reliable indicator of their incompetence as a human being and citizen. TIP OF THE DAY: Respect the dignity of everyone you work with, simply because they are human.
