Keeping it real was our biggest mistake
The 8-year story of OPENHow a ticketing protocol with real-world traction, real clients, and real volume is now facing its toughest battle yet: surviving the crypto industry. Is this the final chapter? If you're reading this, you probably already know us, or you're about to meet the most stubborn builders in Web3. This is not a goodbye. This is a reckoning. After eight years of non-stop building, we’ve hit the wall: no more runway. And yet, ironically, we’re seeing more traction than ...

OPNs revised token economics - taxing the scalpers
Monetising the secondary marketOPEN Ticketing has pivoted to a more efficient, secondary-market-driven approach. Despite high paper fees previously, our old model wasn't delivering the value we envisioned. Now, by focusing on the secondary market—where approximately 8% of all tickets are naturally resold—we've created a model that slashes overhead, scales effortlessly, and channels far more value directly to OPN token holders through token burns and staking rewards. Major partners l...

Empowering ticketing companies to challenge the cartel—the right way
How OPEN is providing decentralized tools to liberate the ticketing industryThe stranglehold of Live NationFor years, Live Nation and Ticketmaster have dominated the live event industry, controlling nearly every aspect of ticketing, venues, and promotion. Their monopoly has resulted in inflated ticket prices, exorbitant fees, and restrictive contracts that squeeze out competition. Fans, artists, and venues alike suffer under this exploitative model, and breaking free has seemed impossible—unt...

OPEN’s infrastructure is designed to extend the lifecycle of a ticket or collectible issued through the ecosystem. This works through the relationship with unique smart contracts per event and behind the scenes wallet infrastructure we provide to integrators.
Every new event registered through our infrastructure creates a unique smart contract from which onchain tickets are issued for a single event. This makes it incredibly easy to identify tickets distributed for a single event through OPEN, both as the ticket issuer and as a spectator viewing ticketing activity through our explorer and other community tools.
Every smart contract comes with a smart contract address, which can be thought of as a identifier that is unique to the individual smart contract. By entering the smart contract address into token gated applications, content can be gated to only allow access to valid ticket holders that purchased a ticket issued through the event’s smart contract.
Along with a unique smart contract per event, OPEN allows integrators to create a behind the scenes embeddable wallet for the end user which effectively onboards them into onchain experiences directly from their ticket.
By handling the backend and blockchain logic and transaction handling, integrators can natively interface a wallet into their own application, or utilise our Wallet UI frontend to display onchain tickets and collectibles along with acting as a gateway into onchain experiences pre, during or post-event.
Combining these two functionality opens up a world of onchain authentication that event organisers and artists can tap into to level up the attendee and fan experience.
This allows for millions of new users into Web3 per year, with the ability to natively interface with NFTs, cryptocurrency and access into onchain experiences with common flows including Shopify merchandise, Discord, Telegram and Bonfire community tooling, early access to future ticket sales, digital or metaverse experiences and more.
Ultimately this opens a new form of community building and fan engagement never seen before in the event space that turns an integrators’ application into a global internet authenticator.
We believe in a world where the full capabilities of onchain are accessable at the purchase of a ticket and look forward to bringing 10+ million event attendees into onchain per year.
