GM, BD, and BJ to all of you!
The past week was a crazy one and felt like a continuous roller-coaster, but man, who doesn’t love roller-costers?
Without further ado, I will jump right into the recap of two events that I attended last week, namely: Crypto Expo Europe and the Paris Blockchain Week.
Crypto Expo Europe 2023
This event took place in Bucharest, Romania at the Radisson Hotel on the 19th and 20th of March 2023. This was the first major event ever held in Romania focused on the Blockchain and Crypto space. The organizers did a great job bringing together top speakers from Romania and also from the international crypto community.
The event spanned over two days, offering the attendees the possibility to listen to interesting panels hosted by some of the top players in the industry but also connect and network on the hotel's premises which were very generous and aesthetically pleasant. There was also a booth area where several companies showcased their products and those interested had the opportunity to deep dive and learn more about the new but also well-established projects.
It was great to see many familiar faces from our NFT Bucharest Warm-up and also to have the possibility to connect with new frens!
First of all, I had the pleasure to meet and create an amazing connection with the guys from Voxel Architects - George, Cristian, and Ergean. These young fellas are the architects behind some of the biggest Metarvese projects, having worked with The Rocket Factory of Tom Sachs and Sothebys, to name just a few. I was very impressed with their skills and human quality. If you plan of building something in the Metaverse, they are the people you should call.
Then I met Alexander, a guy from Luxembourg, who studies and lives in Bucharest and who speaks incredibly good Romanian. He is a Medical student and besides this, he’s building a game on MultiversX. By the way, if someone from MultiversX reads this, reach out to Alexander as he has your prize won at the Crypto Expo Europe Awards Gala.

Oh, and speaking of the Gala, I went on to receive Crypto Virally’s prize for the best Web3 Marketing Agency. You’re welcome, guys! By the way, Crypto Virally is a crypto-focused marketing agency and the only one that has public pricing for their service packages. You always know what you pay for!

During this event, I also got the pleasure to be introduced to Stefan Hamza who is a very talented fashion designer and together we already identified a few areas where we can work together. I was happy to put him in contact with two other great artists that I respect a lot, Tammy Lovin (who was also a speaker at the event) and Ovidiu Bojor. Hamza was mind blown by Ovidiu’s creative process (as the rest of us are as well).
I want to give a special thanks to Roxy Pistolea, who besides being a great speaker and part of not one, but several panels was also nominated for the Business Representative of the Year. I owe you one (wink)!

As you can see, the reason why I love attending these events is to connect with like-minded people and because you can find great synergies from just having a chat.
Furthermore, I had the pleasure to chat with the likes of George - Mr. Spread (who would come to me asking for the POAP), Razvan Munteanu (which I would meet in Paris too), Ioana Francu (top-notch lady), Sebastian Cochinescu, Andrei Popa (Hypercent), Nikolay Angelov (Nexo), Alexandru Carbunariu (Banksters), Dorian Vicieloni (KuKoin), Ilie Puscas (Binance Romania) and many others.
I was very impressed with the work everyone involved in the organization of this event put in and I am sure that this is one of those events that will put Romania on the map of worldwide crypto hubs. We have the people, we have the infrastructure and we have the skills and experience to organize internationally renowned events.

So, Crypto Expo Europe finished on Monday the 20th of March and on Tuesday I was already on the plane, traveling to Paris, for the Paris Blockchain Week! Another type of fish food (as we say in Romanian).
Paris Blockchain Week - Summit Days (22-23.03.2023)
This was an elevated experience from all points of view: location - Carrousel du Louvre (one stone's throw away from the magnificent Louvre museum), venue - incredibly big and fit for many thousands of attendees and expo booths, 4 stages ( 1 main, 2 smaller and 1 workshop stage), 100+ booths, 2 live broadcasting studios, I think you got the picture.

What impressed me the most was the fact that during a bear market and with tough economic perspectives (high pressure on traditional finance actors) the general vibe I got from this event was another confirmation that blockchain/ Web3 and crypto are here to stay and represent that paradigm shift that we are all talking about (in our bubble for now).
Because the event was quite high priced, I was there as a volunteer, taking care of the smooth development of one of the smaller stages during the first day and the main stage on the second day. This offered me incredible insights into the organization and took a lot of notes for the NFT Bucharest main event.

On this occasion, I want to thank Arthur (one of the main organizers), Michael ( Paris Blockchain CEO), Patrick ( program manager for Venus de Milo Stage), and all the other volunteers that I got the chance to connect with.
Because I enjoyed being a volunteer so much, I took the initiative of providing all volunteers with a special POAP to mark their experience and recognize their efforts and contribution. Here I have to thank also to Lucas from POAP Studio, Jen ( Chief Marketing Officer of Paris Blockchain WeeK), and Arthur for their support. Maybe other good things will come for the holders of this POAP. As we like to say #probablynothing :)

During my first day, I connected with the representatives of the Cardano Foundation who were present with a stand at the event, and learned more about their NFT projects and the next Cardano Summit which will take place this year in Dubai, UAE. Seems that I might be traveling to Dubai for the first time. If you are based there, let’s connect.
One of the first people that I bumped into was no other than Braden John Karony! If this name doesn’t tell you much, I give you a hint: #SAFEMOON. He’s the CEO of Safemoon and he was there, in person, in Paris. I said hi to him on behalf of all of you!

I also had the opportunity to pitch my NFT project idea to Alexander Defryus and his team, and I am happy to have received great feedback on AthleteProof. If all goes well, you might see this coming out on the Chiliz Chain 2.0. The Chiliz Blockchain is due to be launched on the 10th of May. Chiliz also announced their partnership with Common Goal during a panel moderated by no other than David the Host (whom I know from the time he was the host of all video media of Ajax Amsterdam).

During the time I volunteer at the main stage, I had a chat with Michael Amar, the CEO of Paris Blockchain Week, and found out that he has Romanian roots - how cool is that? I also got to meet again with Sebastien Borget, Co-Founder of The Sandbox Game, and attend the first announcement of the upcoming SnoopVerse (and was so sad that I was not able to attend SnoopDogg’s show in Paris - one day baby, one day). Moreover, got to take a picture with the other half of Sanbox, Arthur who was the one announcing the upcoming project.
I attended a very interesting panel about the Metaverse where Sebastien and Robby Yung were among the panelist. Was lucky enough to grab a quick word and a picture from Robby too. It’s crazy how these OGs are being hunted by everyone after they set their foot off stage. It’s truly a battle going on there.

As mentioned above during the recap of Crypto Expo Europe, I met a lot of familiar faces at Paris Blockchain Week as well. There was a lot of Romanian heritage among the participants, speakers, and organizers.
The highlight was that I got to connect with the MultiversX core team. Thank you, Lucian, Beniamin, Daniel, and Emanuel for being such great dudes and of amazing human quality. Can’t wait to bring one of my projects to Elrond.

Furthermore, I met Ana and Tudor from Oveit who have a super great vibe and was cool chatting about how Oveit plans to become the global leader in NFT Ticketing services and to hear their positive feedback about the NFT Bucharest Warm-Up. Oveit was also one of the sponsors of the Paris Blockchain week and for sure they are on a path to accomplishing great things. Lovely people!
I also got to say hi to Daniel Nita which was the first time we meet IRL, he left me with a very good impression and I look forward to meeting him again and getting the chance to chat a bit more.

Now I have to stop talking about my experience and give a big shout-out to my wife, Maria, who is building something that will bring incredible benefits and value to everyone - being in crypto or not. She is building something that we all need, but we don’t know we need it until is too late. And she has the support of big names in the industry, so be prepared to be blown away but also to upgrade yourself. Keep an eye on @Amstel54 (her Twitter handle). Paris was the place where she got all the confirmations needed to bootstrap this project, so during the next few months something great is coming to the Metaverse (oh damn, already said too much). Keep an eye on her! Again, #probablynothing!

I ended the event by taking part in the MultiversX side-event which took place at the NFT Factory ( a dream for all of us at Metaventis and NFT Bucharest, but a dream that we will work our asses off to make true). While being there, I got also the pleasure to meet one of the co-founders - Ethan Pierse who was a great host and a nice guy to talk to. At our departure, we bumped into John Karp the founder of Non-Fungible Lisbon. He made us a promise, we made one to him - so keep close to see what will come out of these promises. #probablynothing no. 3.

It was an intense week with little sleep, but we couldn’t miss the official closing party of the Paris Blockchain Week which took place at Le Trianon, a very stylish Parisian building. However, as we had to catch a flight the next day, we called it a night and crossed the finish line of this crazy marathon called CEE + PBW.
And of course, we couldn’t leave Paris without eating lunch at Brasserie Rosie, which I recommend to anyone traveling to Paris. It’s my favorite and the go-to place while I am there. Don’t miss out on this experience!

My ending thoughts are that these two events, although they were physically exhausting, they filled up my motivation and drive tanks. I am ready to grind even more, to build as never before, and to make these great connections flourish. Although we think it’s a lot of us out there, we are still early and in quite difficult times when looking from a social and economic perspective. However, hard times build strong people and strong people build strong projects. It’s time to build and not give up!
In the end, as always, I leave you with this:
