Zibo barbecue has a long history, in the Zibo ceramic Glass Museum, display thousands of years ago, the local pottery container used to grill food. The prosperous pottery industry in history helped the State of Qi to fish, salt and smelt iron and dominate the vassals. The Xuyao site of Zhaojia in Linzi, one of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in the country in 2022, is located in Zibo, pushing the history of local barbecue food to about 13,000 years ago.
