Highlights and side dishes of the Meme Maxis, week of November 21 – cover image excerpted from “HAPPY THANKSGIVING” by g9ralt 🦃
A fervently festive welcome to new family: yyctrader1, imagine_sme aka nacho_web3, anonscontent, jklauber, BanditMfer, SpliffyTheApe, aventurine_eth, _nngmi, edupou aka TigerMfer, ZombieBitsNFT, and art_icu_late aka Chris James 🔥
‘Tis the season for extended greetings, and as the mission becomes clearer to all of us, the more ways we discover to introduce the memes to all.
In an ultimate mensch move, ReadyPereOne buys bulk for charity: an order of 101 FirstGMs (meme card 8) purchased at-cost to be given away to newbies learning the land and setting up their wallets. This initiative coincides with a permanent closing of the FirstGM mint run, cemented this week at 3,941 copies, final answer. As of this writing, the onboarding is still active, making the offer even more generous now that their scarcity is quantifiable.
G9ralt blots out the OM sky with punk6529’s First Tweet in a tribute announcement to Pere’s efforts –

This week’s outreach continues multifaceted, thanks to community leaders like anonscontent kicking off and mc’ing the first-ever twitter spaces for The Memes (recorded playback).
And punk6529 continues UNIC’s META-511 lecture series with a banger: “What is a metaverse?” – perfectly timed for oracles sent from the future collectors of quizzical looks from elders at the family reunion.
With a sharp eye one can spot the end of SZN1 in the distance – the last 5-10 meme card drops coming into view before mid-December, moving towards us at astonishing speed. Following punk6529’s shuttering of the FirstGM open edition…

…we immediately witness a frenzy of meme card purchases and full-set sweeps, accelerating the trend from last week spurred by the snapping up of Sgt. Pepes 🦀. This time, however, price increases are occurring alongside a conspicuously commensurate ballooning of total headcount of unique holders … currently pushing north of a meme-worthy 4,242 wallets.
That all this is happening in a “crypto winter” doesn’t seem to faze the Maxis, who simply continue to spread the memes, and make art.
Here’s intrepid_p, leveraging the power of king bear towards the importance of self-custody of assets:

Alex8rite commemorating the toasty bakery where all the remaining FirstGMs were sent to get crispy. The Historic Burn of the First GM animation uses punk6529’s RAW Collection photo of Reykjavik Harbor (warning from paulwilsonimage / celebration by ReadyPereOne) –

Team-6529 itself grows this week, with the addition of a new birth: huzzah to @6529er and family 🎉!! Fortuitously, spuddhism has already prepared a new, cozy snuggie (fins not shown) ready for the little one:

For the rest of us, derivatives galore!
Spuddhism keeps the train running with Pepes Are Infinite, a mashup of “Sgt. Pepe” by @Ars0nic, and “JPEGs Are Infinite” by @seerlight:

Zigmarillion’s Nakamoto Rules Them All (announcement) is still open to mint for another week:

ParaChica rolls rhymes with her colorful thread, Ode to Magical Memes;
dinocelotti demonstrates the act of shredding Pepe live:

Meyvsm channels Sgt. Pepe’s authority into a crucial fight for the freedom to connect, fundamental to our ability to live and flourish.

mememaxis tunes in to Nakamoto Summer, a cheeky neon number (announcement) –

fmiasp drops a two-fer, hand-knitting a Sgt. Pepe patch, one of the most instantly merch-able memes –

and assembling these beach-ready WarholSummerGlasses, popping with so much color you could blow bubbles with them:

If that’s still not enough, ChrizRoc has you covered, with his call for submissions all aboard the meme train.
This week, @halecar2 aka Alejandro Cartagena’s meme card is our only––and holy flaming truck is it a feast, both visually as well as through myriad layers of story and meaning. Seize the Carpoolers was created in collaboration with artist @galamotshaku, based on a project with an extensive and fascinating history (6529 Collections announcement) –

art_icu_late aka the Memes Ninja playfully adds to the concept with Memepoolers (announcement) –

and aRegularDad delves deep into the wonders of this card, in a thread that is at once entertaining, insightful, and empowering––tying its important themes into an intricate bow, while wrapping up a helluva argument for an Open Metaverse For All. Though we collect shiny pictures of questionable value, artistic tonics such as these serve heady reminders that the why behind web3, decentralization, NFTs, memes, and so on, is about building better structures: systems that are more just, to the benefit of every human, especially the disenfranchised. To that point, Alejandro’s illuminating collection of Carpoolers in the Internet is also not to be missed (announcement and context) –

Burnasso’s words to live by ring especially true in this time of co-creation and making things for others.

paulwilsonimage takes us to Aotearoa –

apeinacoupe presents a puzzle: what happens to the dark blue pain, given the newly evolved state of pale blue gain? Naturally, the step-step-step towards dark blue gain –

intrepid_p rewards his collectors with Fire in the Sky (announcement) –

HugoFaz sells Help, the work that inspired the making of meme card 30 (collected by ReadyPereOne) –

and we welcome wise perspectives for all creators from amtwo_eth –

Many Maxis are also aficionados of Sartoshi’s playful PFP collection, particularly after the influx of this week’s new members. Let’s properly introduce some of ‘em! BanditMfer, always in style –

anonscontent is about to board a rocket ship –

Given the lightning show we witnessed above, why would mfer intrepid_p be afraid of some storm clouds?

Havamal3000 has also rounded up a gallery of mfers, one of many to visit this week.
MeltedMindz’s “Ode to the Open Metaverse” is a sign to be installed within a gallery of your very own, collectable through a weeklong edition still open as of this writing.

Reader––at this point I must confess that, while the art in fmiasp’s Pop Up Gallery in his Trillion Nights space – featuring curation by art_icu_late – is fantastic, and also presented with impeccable flair, I could not resist skydiving from it repeatedly:

Who says careening carefree through space cannot be a permanent state of affairs? Mememaxis’s Sun of the Mugs is a radiant take on @NeuralBricolage’s meme card 20, “Hardware Wallet and Mug”. Staring is not only safe but encouraged (NFA, DYOR).
