Highlights and ice baths of the Meme Maxis, week of April 24, 2023 — cover excerpted from “Meme Shutdown” by rocknrollah84 (announcement), a ReMeme of GrantYun2’s “MEME FACTORY”.
Spring has sprung in northern climes as our friends in the southerly hemisphere scoot softly toward breezes of autumn, harbingers of hibernations to come — and though these dependable rituals mark our growth, like ceremonial notches etched in a town square on the sentinel tree planted by our elders, they somehow echo the same crisscrossing fortunes of the endeavors we choose, too.
Prospects go down, up, down again within a certain larger pattern, complex enough to make accurate predictions a fool’s errand, simple enough to show that we are, in the end, all interconnected.

At this riveting, pivotal moment in early Act III, Meg Thorpe (Megthorpeart) dashes onstage to a hero’s fanfare, boldly declaring the direction our tumultuous tale must turn. If we are to survive, we need prioritize our shared humanity, our mental health, and our spiritual well-being. Her impressive accumulation of work in her own words:
My work as a whole’s about my journey with mental illness and through sharing my art, I hope to destigmatise mental health issues and also show that we are not alone at a time where we can feel our most loneliest.
That this important work is being done by the rarest of artists is cause for celebration — and an excellent reminder of how one person effects change in the world.
Meg curates WeAreNFTUK, and her own collections are ready for perusal at SuperRare (genesis within a few days as of this publication!), Foundation, and elsewhere.
Take a romp through this whole thread of beans memes, courtesy dalegre and the MeebitsNFTs community:

art_icu_late’s “Memes Outside” project continues its outreach to communities as far-flung as the Open World, a.k.a. Original Metaverse, with #31 entitled “Future EVERYTHING” (announcement) —

6529Gradientz interviews ZUPHIOH (artist for meme card 60), in a piece filled with humor and a truly epic history, replete with larger-than-life, precocious protagonist.

…and another Gradientz interview this week, with ryankoopmans (artist for meme card 88) illuminating the history and thinking behind the rich worlds of “The Wild Within” series, amply illustrated with a gallery of the pieces as well.

“Bees got Seized” is the latest card to emerge from the upside-down world of 9256memes, featuring a Winnie-the-Punk run aground (original card by 6529er; announcement) —

Somehow in similar tone to Winnie is punk6529’s mustachio-twirled observation — as selected by TheMeansCreator for the ReMeme of cachou1993’s CA-SAKURA card (#81) —

Catch “Greedy Art” (a rememed “Greedy Morning” by Tyronejkd) and “Digital Rights are Human Rights” (a rememe of 6529er’s GDRC card), both available for mint on primary — as well as “Look Up, Anon” on secondary, all by the ever-prolific TheMeansCreator.

Immersive gallery experiences await your senses at:
Sungwoo Choi’s (specificobj) metaverse creation featuring The Memes curated by Yumpling_, entitled “Where Memes Live”, debuting in last week’s issue but now with an extensive and highly worthwhile making-of tweetstorm.
Young 6529’s (mohammadalihd) latest extravaganza called “Memesland” (announcement) —

“Rekthanol” is the culmination of caution thrown to the wind, redeemable for burners of Seiziums earlier in the week, featuring stunning art by spydenator (announcement) —

Mt. Gox labs isn’t the only explosive cauldron…we’ve also present and ongoing sources of rage, irrepressible no matter how jarring (or fake news-y) the setting (6529Collections announcement) —

Fidel Amos (FidelEverywhere) presents a cheeky amalgamation of multiple the-medium-is-the-messages all at once: AI art, digital billboards, even dolled-up conflict.
His behind-the-scenes teaser announcement shows some of the camera footage up close:

The Meme comes full circle with mbstuart’s contribution:

And aRegularDad is in first with the speedy ReMeme:

Don’t miss his statement on its rememe-ability, G9ralt’s ReMeme take, or ReadyPereOne’s impassioned interpretation as well.
Back to the artist who kicked this all off! Join Fidel’s Discord, find his work with ShotBotsNFT and SHEprojectNFT, and elsewhere including numerous interviews.
GrantYun2 releases “Life in Japan 2” (announcement) —

Even for the humblest (yet just as essential) greeting does deekaymotion whip up a charm bomb (source) —

MeltedMindz joins the party and it’s bring-your-own-nostalgia-bomb:

apeinacoupe creates a Pepe to oversee them all: a truly mesmerizing “Parametric Pepe” (announcement) —

Harmony with the elements, even time and reality itself, seems to be in the cards this week, as we round up the selection with Angela Nikolau’s (AngelaNikolau_) unmistakable and daring Meme Card entry.
g9ralt authors the first ReMeme, peppering the landscape with a choice selection of Memes, as well as a Gradient Clip™, clearly the next must-have accessory this side of summer glasses.
WintermuteGAN with a typically spot-on prememe, this time doubling as a glimpse of the making-of (announcement) —

And FidelEverywhere finds his own piece from earlier this week already soaked to a crisp, in the fastest artist-on-artist ReMeme to date, titled “FUD Flambé”:

Angela’s body of work spans Foundation and SuperRare; follow her on Instagram too.
“The A.I. Dilemma” is a must-see presentation by Tristan Harris (tristanharris) and Aza Raskin (aza), co-founders of the Center of Humane Technology (HumaneTech_) — h/t iamDCinvestor
The Non Fungible Conference (NFCsummit) is packed with fascinating topics and speakers, upcoming in Lisbon, Portugal from June 7–8
…and in Romania, accelerateart and NONE32X32 host

ClaireSilver12 warrants an additional spotlight for her work in curation, both eagled-eyed and prolific. A.I. contest 4 showcases a plethora of interdisciplinary talents, all highly worth your perusal — congratulations to winners bl_artcult, MutagenSamurai, PhoenixFawkes25, dragos_badita, alxalxalx 🎊
