Cries Beneath the Ashes In Gaza’s dust, the children cry, Under a bleeding, ashen sky. Bread was the dream they went to find, But bullets answered humankind. The air was thick with mothers’ screams, Fathers cradled shattered dreams, Little hands that reached for aid, Now forever cold, betrayed. A line of hope, a fatal lie, Where mercy came, but so did sky— Torn apart by steel and flame, Each soul lost bears no name. The moon bears witness, pale and weak, To blood that stains the shallow creek. No words can cleanse this crimson flood, No prayer can rewind the blood. How many lives must starve and die Before the world will ask us why? Or will we scroll and move along, While Gaza weeps her funeral song? Tonight the stars refuse to shine, Ashamed to light such a design. O, justice, where have you gone? Another grave, another dawn.
