In ancient times, a starry sign did appear,
ing the wise men from distant lands near.
Mentioned in Matthew's Gospel, their tale unfolds,
These mysterious figures, the story beholds.
Who were these wise men, with knowledge profound,
Seeking the King, through unknown grounds?
Some say they were astrologers, studying the skies,
Interpreting signs, seeking truth with their eyes.
Others believe they were scholars of old,
Well-versed in prophecies, stories untold.
From the East they journeyed, with purpose and awe,
To pay homage to the newborn King, they saw.
Magi or magicians, a title they held,
Not mere sorcerers, but seekers compelled.
Guided by faith, and the star's gentle glow,
They followed its light, wherever it would show.
Gift-bearers they were, with treasures untold,
Gold, frankincense, and myrrh they did unfold.
Symbols of honor, worship, and sacrifice,
Offerings fit for a King, beyond earthly price.
Their arrival in Bethlehem caused quite a stir,
As they sought the child, in humble defer.
To Herod they came, seeking guidance and cheer,
But an evil plot, his heart did adhere.
Warned in a dream, they changed their course,
Avoiding Herod's wrath, with divine force.
Their journey complete, they found the young child,
And knelt before Him, in wonder so mild.
Though their names and backgrounds remain unknown,
Their legacy lives on, their story has grown.
The wise men, courageous and full of grace,
Remain a symbol of seeking God's face.
So let us, like the wise men of old,
Be seekers of truth, with hearts bold.
In our journeys, may we follow the light,
Finding the One who makes all things right.
