This guide will show you how to deploy a smart contract on the Taiko Jolnir L2 testnet.
Before we get started, you might be wondering why we're deploying a smart contract on the Taiko Jolnir L2 testnet. The reason is that it could help you with the Taiko airdrop.
Here's the deal with the Jolnir L2 testnet: it can reward you for doing specific tasks, which in turn boosts your chances of qualifying for the airdrop. And the best part is, it won't cost you a dime to participate.
To ensure you don't miss out on this opportunity, we've put together a step-by-step guide on putting a smart contract on the Taiko Jolnir L2 testnet.
β Steps to take before diving into deploying a smart contract:
Add Taiko Jolnir L2 testnet to Metamask
Get ETH on Sepolia
Bridge ETH from Sepolia to Taiko
If you have already completed these steps, you can skip them; otherwise:
Add Taiko Jolnir L2 testnet to Metamask using this link π
https://taiko.xyz/docs/reference/rpc-configuration
Get ETH on Sepolia using this link π
Bridge ETH from Sepolia to Taiko Jolnir L2 using this link π
https://bridge.jolnir.taiko.xyz/
π Now letβs deploy a smart contract:
Go to OpenZeppelin. OpenZeppelin is a popular open-source framework for writing secure and scalable smart contracts in the Solidity programming language.
https://docs.openzeppelin.com/contracts/4.x/wizard
Enter the name of the smart contract, symbol, and premint amount. Feel free to enter any random values as they do not significantly impact the process.

Now click on the βCompileβ button π

If there are no errors, you will see a green checkmark π

Now go to the deployment page π

Select the 'Injected Provider' option from the environment options menu, and then proceed to click on the 'Deploy' button π

Confirm the transaction when prompted π

After a successful transaction, your deployed contract will be visible in the bottom left corner of the page π

If you have reached this step, congratulations!!! π
You have successfully deployed a smart contract on the Taiko Jolnir L2 testnet.
Now if you want to check the smart contract on Explorer, simply copy the contract address as shown below π

Go to the Taiko Explorer and search for the contract address π
https://explorer.jolnir.taiko.xyz/
