A typical Web3 funnel (for most parts) would look like the below:
Open an account with a centralised exchange (CEX) to buy and sell tokens
Open a wallet e.g. MetaMask, Phantom or CoinBase itself & transfer tokens from step 1
Transact a NFT or stake some tokens in a DeFi protocol
As like a typical funnel, there are drops at every stage and by the time we reach step 3, less than 3 Mn users have ever interacted with a NFT as the below tweet shows
As we had covered in our previous post briefly, creating a wallet and remembering a seed phrase are both error-prone and can cause quite a loss. With the inherent immutable characteristics of blockchains, a wrong wallet address or sharing a seed phrase can result in significant financial loss (tokens etc.)
Some would say that this is ‘good friction’ and gets only the more crypto-aware crowd to spend in Web3, keeping at bay the degens. However, at the same time this can be debilitating for non-crypto-native users who want to explore and contribute to Web 3.
At Dfolio, we provide the bridge for onboarding these superusers onto Web3. During on-boarding, users can sign-up through either across web2 platforms (Discord, Twitter, Reddit, Github etc) or existing web3 wallets.
Our framework aggregates users’ social activities across web2 platforms, translates them into on chain credentials and finally a clout score for the Dfolio profiles. As part of improving their clout, users can progressively connect their existing web2 accounts and other web3 wallets to their Dfolio profiles
Further, we position the Dfolio ID as the center of a user’s on-chain portfolio. A Dfolio ID solves for the following:
Identity: A user’s public Dfolio ID page will have their off-chain credentials, on-chain tasks, NFTs they own, DAOs they are part of etc. The Dfolio ID will be an easy-to-remember identity for other users to reference any user.
Social Graph: In case a user keeps their Dfolio ID public, other users can follow their Dfolio ID and keep abreast of changes in the portfolio, additional contributions and achievements
DAO Tasks Store: Akin to an App store, DAOs or Apps with active tasks will be discoverable by users. Since almost every dapp or community wants to onboard new users, Dfolio’s recommended tasks (based on a user’s profile, trending DAOs) can surface up discovery helping onboard new users.
PS: If you are a App or Community admin and want to keep abreast of our launch dates or be part of the early user campaigns, please join our waiting list at Dfolio (www.dfolio.xyz)
