A Gas Pedal for Endogenous DMT
DMT is inside you. And your pet rabbit. Yet people hardly talk about this curious, mysterious fact. And science still knows very little about how the production of this endogenous psychedelic is regulated. In our biggest project yet, PsyDAO has helped fund an important investigation into one of neuroscience's most intriguing puzzles. The eDMT project could revolutionize our understanding of the brain's natural chemistry, and open the door to regulating the body’s own supply of DMT. ...

‘Emotions, Visible.’ PsyDAO Developing ‘Remarkable’ New Psychedelic
Curiosity leads us to strange places. Sometimes, those places are best seen when we close our eyes. Enter Bastiaan Woudt, a Dutch artist who had seemingly been everywhere and seen everything—from rural Uganda to Parisian art galleries. On a recent weekend, Woudt stepped into the lab of researcher Zeus Tipado, a PhD student in Maastricht (and also PsyDAO’s first Early Career Fellow). Tipado provided Woudt with 52 milligrams of a white powder called DMXE and a carefully curated setting. Woudt p...

PSYC Yourself In
Our previous post, PsyDAO Tokens and Governance, detailed our new governance model for BioDAOs: a two-token system that follows the design principles of Elinor Ostrom’s Nobel-Prize winning work on governance to build the PsyDAO Commons. This post details one of the two, PSYC, which unlike PSY is not going on sale on Bicycle Day. PSYC are soulbound tokens (SBTs, a.k.a. transfer-restricted NFTs) derived from Puja Ohlaver, Vitalik Buterin, and Glen Weyl’s seminal work on decentralized society. P...

When they are, most people have no real say. Governments, big pharma, and universities make the choices.
PsyDAO breaks that mold. Every holder of $PSY tokens votes on research. Transparently. On the Ethereum blockchain.
See, we’re a bioDAO. We’re incubated by Bio.XYZ–a group of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations which are democratic. Bio DAO’s are researching brain health, hair loss, women’s health, and more. The BioDAOs have deployed $15 million into research.
We do psychedelics. We’ve already funded AI, drug development, and a real-life plant medicine cafe.
What comes next will be decided by vote.
Read our blog about us as a BioDAO.
At its core, PsyDAO's governance structure is simple. Each $PSY token represents one vote in community decisions. Hold 100 tokens? You get 100 votes. Hold 10,000? You get 10,000 votes. Those with the most at stake have the biggest voice.

Not every research idea can be put up for a community vote. PsyDAO has a process.
Our process starts in the Working Groups. For science, the Science Working Group takes the lead. Tyler Quigley, PhD, is advised by scientists from America and Europe. We look for projects that fit PsyDAO’s mission of Promoting Progress in Psychedelic Science and Culture. These projects benefit PsyDAO as a whole.
Read about the difference between $PSY and $PSYC
Quorum sensing: A core team of PsyDAO members weighs in first. These 34 members are psychedelic scientists, lawyers, writers, artists and researchers with deep knowledge of the field. Each of these 34 members holds a $PSYC token. $PSYC token holders are like an advisory board.
(Note that $PSY and $PSYC tokens, though with similar names, are quite different. $PSY=money. $PSYC=membership. Read more here.)
The Science Working Group presents proposed deals to the 34 $PSYC holders, who vote on which should move forward. In our last round, $PSYC voted on about 12 proposals. Three deals got support from $PSYC holders. One is on drug development and two are on basic research.
These move toward a wider vote of $PSY holders.

When a vote opens, $PSY holders connect their cryptocurrency wallets to a site called Snapshot. (Here’s an example of a past vote.) Voting is usually open for a few days.
Again–one $PSY, one vote.
The vote is simple: should we fund these projects … or not.
Proposals with 50.1 percent support win. They will get funded.

We send money to the researchers.
After that? It depends. Our deals are often tokenized, creating governance tokens of for the projects. For example–our drug research project, $DMXE, has a token. Also our AI agent system, $BeeARD.
If these projects succeed, the success accrues to the token holders.

Reminder: PsyDAO is a mission-driven organization and we rely on a lot of help.
Thank you to all our token holders; your purchase funds our art and science.
DAOs are powered by regular people working toward their passions. If you believe in the power of psychedelics and Web3 and want to contribute to PsyDAO, please:

Follow PsyDAO on X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn, and engage.
Follow our AI research bot, BeeARD, on X.
Use psychedelics responsibly, and tell us how it went.
