ETH set a new record price of $4,881. The milestone sets the first new all time high since November 10, 2021.
Why this matters: A fresh ATH is a key psychological signal for market participants and can unlock price discovery for an asset.
The State of Wyoming announced the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), described as the first state-created stablecoin, with deployment on Ethereum and Layer 2 networks Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon. The launch positions FRNT for government-backed payments, programmatic finance, and public-sector experiments across the Ethereum ecosystem.
Why this matters: A U.S. state issuing a stablecoin on Ethereum could accelerate public-sector adoption and normalize stable-value rails in onchain services.
Southeast Asia’s largest bank, DBS, is launching structured notes on Ethereum mainnet. The announcement places Ethereum at the center of the tokenization product pipeline for one the world's largest regulated financial institutions.
Why this matters: It highlights growing institutional adoption of Ethereum for real-world asset issuance.
Coin Center’s Executive Director, Peter Van Valkenburgh highlighted a statement from the Assistant Attorney General noting that merely writing code without ill intent is not a crime. The clarification is seen as encouraging, but Van Valkenburgh emphasized it is "merely a policy of prosecutorial discretion rather than a binding interpretation of the law (which) leaves the DOJ a lot of space to find other avenues to criminalize publishing code."
Why this matters: Developer protections are foundational for permissionless, open-source innovation on Ethereum.
BitMine disclosed an additional $1.6 billion ETH purchase, bringing its holdings to $6.6 billion. The new total places the company as the world’s second-largest Digital Asset Treasury (DAT), behind only MicroStrategy's Bitcoin DAT.
Why this matters: Large corporate ETH accumulation reduces circulating supply and may influence treasury strategies across the industry.
BTCS announced it will distribute a blockchain dividend or "Bividend" of $0.05 per share in ET to shareholders, marking a first for a publicly traded company. The company is also offering a one-time $0.35 per share Ethereum loyalty payment to shareholders who move their shares to book entry with our transfer agent and hold them there through January 26, 2026 as an incentive to reward long-term shareholders.
Why this matters: It highlights mainstream corporate adoption of Ethereum and could encourage other issuers to explore ETH-based distributions.
SharpLink Gaming disclosed the acquisition of an additional 143,000 ETH. The move expands the company’s Ethereum exposure to a total of 740k ETH in their Digital Asset Treasury (DAT).
Why this matters: Large treasury allocations signal institutional conviction and can reduce circulating supply during accumulation cycles.
SharpLink Gaming announced its board approved a $1.5 billion share repurchase program. The announcement signals further purchases of ETH by the Digital Asset Treasury company.
Why this matters: Large buybacks can affect float and investor sentiment.
Cap introduced its Type III stablecoin application with support for minting cUSD live on Ethereum mainnet. Minters of cUSD, will now start earning "Caps", their native points system and can utilize Day 1 integrations of fellow DeFi applications, Aave and Pendle.
Why this matters: More yield-bearing stablecoins on Ethereum mainnet increases liquidity and deepens financial use cases across onchain apps.
MetaMask introduced mUSD, described as a native stablecoin integrated into the wallet stack. Deployment is slated for Ethereum and Linea later this year.
Why this matters: Wallet-native stablecoins can streamline payments and reduce friction for users and developers.
Aragon emphasized that “privacy is normal” in governance and introduced private voting fully onchain with Privacy Ethereum. The product is the first to ever enable token holders to vote without exposing individual choices at scale and fully onchain.
Why this matters: Confidential balloting can reduce social pressure and improve participation quality.
Spire Labs introduced Pylon, a platform for launching based appchains that leverage Ethereum’s blockspace and sequencing characteristics. The release targets teams that need app-specific throughput while retaining Ethereum alignment.
Why this matters: App-specific chains that stay Ethereum-aligned can simplify scaling while preserving security and ecosystem liquidity.
Centrifuge said deRWA tokens are now live across Coinbase’s DEX and OKX wallet, Bitget Wallet, and Aerodrome, with Morpho collateral support coming. The rollout is positioned to reach 200m+ users with institutional‑grade assets.
Why this matters: Standardized, widely available RWA tokens can expand liquidity and institutional access to tokenized assets.
Agglayer unveiled “CDK Enterprise,” described as a financial‑grade blockchain stack for banks, fintechs, and RWA issuers. The launch targets institutions building onchain and brings traceability, auditability and is "confidential by default".
Why this matters: A purpose‑built institutional stack could accelerate enterprise adoption of Ethereum‑aligned systems.
Gnosis marked a decade since deploying its first contract on Ethereum and highlighted milestones like Safe ($58B TVL), CoW Swap ($130B traded), Gnosis Pay (151 countries), Gnosis Chain (300k validators, 0 downtime), and GnosisV C (80+ projects). The recap also noted growth in guilds, wallets, and DAOs.
Why this matters: Ten years of consistent building across infrastructure, payments, and apps underscore Ethereum’s durability.
