Donghancai was called "Kui" in ancient times. I have a special fondness for it, not because of its taste. Most of the time, people like a thing, is the emotional attachment, not the thing itself, this may also be a difficult disease. The sunflower appeared early in literature. In the Book of Songs, there are phrases like "Qi Hang kwai and Shu", saying that sunflower and soybeans should be cooked in July. "Erya" cloud: "Kwai for the main dish, taste you Gan smooth." So it used to be an important vegetable, not just a side dish like today. There are many sentences to write Kui, and my favorite is still these two sentences, which come from Wang Wei's "Accumulation of rain Rim Chuanzhuang". Rim Stream is the poet's hideaway, and these two lines describe the poet's daily life. Quiet in the mountains, said the poet practice in the mountains. In the morning, there are hibiscus and sunflower in the mountains. Because of these two poems, I always feel that Kwai has Qing Qi, is the food of fairy home. "The ancient people gathered Dong quai, mostly before the sun rose, when there was dew on the young leaves, so it was sometimes called 'dew quai'." Pan Fujun explained it in his book "The Love of the Plant Edge", saying that sunflower, Dong quai and dew sunflower are all the same vegetable. After becoming a monk, Taoist temples often have this dish, but also can eat sweet taste for a long time. The foundation of practice lies in abstinence, which is also reflected in the diet. Two meals a day, four hours a day, cabbage soup. There is a reason that most of the monks' diets are simple. Light diet can not only regulate people's body, but also control people's thoughts and desires psychologically. Besides Xianqi, the first impression Kui gave me was poverty. People in the country eat a lot of winter vegetables porridge, now I think, not because the food is particularly delicious. Similar practices of food, such as steamed rice with red vicia, steamed rice with beans, steamed rice with pumpkin, are the dishes and rice together, largely in line with the original intention of saving. There were not many vegetables in those days, unlike today, when fruits and vegetables are available all year round. I once read a detail in Mr. Wang Zengqi's article.

He said that he was very moved when he read the Tenth Five-Year Army Recruitment when he was a child. "It was plain and true, and not a word of it burst forth with the passion of the earth, but it was sorrowful and shocking. The words and phrases are as clear as words, without any decorations. It does not look like a work written more than two thousand years ago. Even a teenager can fully understand it." The poem includes the following lines: "The rabbit enters the dog sinus, the pheasant flies from the beam. The atrium gave birth to the valley, Inoue gave birth to the kwai. Pound the grain to make rice, gather kwai to make soup. A cooked soup, I do not know who. When I went out and looked east, tears fell on my clothes." It mentions "brigade kwai", which is preceded by the word "brigade", meaning unsupervised, wild, and extremely depressed. Took off the sunflower to make a soup, carrying rice but do not know who to give. It's hopeless. That's about it. There is always a corner of the vegetable field in the Taoist temple reserved for winter vegetables, and I occasionally go to the garden to look at vegetables in the morning when there is nothing to do. The dew in the mountains is heavy, no matter in spring or summer, there will be a thin layer of water on the leaves, the antler thorns on the leaves are clearly visible, and the sunflower flowers are small and white, and they are also lovely things. In addition to food use, vegetables are not less beautiful than garden flowers. After my uncle's death, my aunt was afraid that she did not have enough energy to take care of the food and vegetables throughout the year. Even if her health allowed, her children were away from home, so she could not eat that much. It was predictable that the land would gradually become barren. I still remember the scene of choosing food in the yard with my sister-in-law after more than ten years.
