Sarama
In all these years, I had never wondered about Vibhisena’s wife. I got called to her attention via the dud movie, Adhipurush, where she plays an important part in Lakshmana’s recovery from Indrajit’s vicious attack. She is the one who raises to Rama’s attention, the existence of the Sanjeevani herb that can serve as an antidote to the poisonous wound. This beautiful character garnered controversy for the wrong reasons. Sarama is known to have had a close relationship with Sita when she was at...
Happy 47th AK
AK would have been 47.. but alas! Still in my fond memories. Rushing to catch the same 5B bus as she would, walking back from Adyar Signal for a short furlong or two to Parameshwari Nagar and then a long trek back to my place.. Some things last such a short clock time and yet they last a lifetime in memory. This is an inversion of the Pareto principle where the most memorable incidents are also some of the most extreme emotions that one feels, whether pain, joy, success or of course, love. Re...

Have you ever experienced affection for a total stranger? What causes this affection? Something you can relate to in yourself? Something superficial, good looks or vibes perhaps? Something that brings joy or a tinge of happiness, strokes a fond memory?
This is such a magical feeling that makes you happy and somehow through the quantum world in which we are all connected, brings positivity to the person toward whom this affection is directed. Love is one of those feelings that AI, robots, other lesser intellectual or lower conscious living beings cannot experience. So, our expression of love and affection should be unbridled. What is a life lived if there is not love expressed and received?
On the other side of the coin, there is happiness at the downfall or misery of someone. Is this hatred? Is this real joy? Why are we pleased that someone slips? Why don’t we step up to help that someone from falling? Because we compete against them? What good does that do eventually? When we fall, and that is a certainty of life, will we receive a helping hand or do we even deserve to throw our hand expecting someone to clutch it? Don’t revel in the failure of someone else. It might backfire as failure is a given in life, in some form or the other. Those that go on longer without failing hit the ground hard and never climb back. Those who keep failing know how to dust off the mud and rise up higher than before. Their climb may seem slower but they last longer at the top and scale even greater heights. Through these journeys, you always need a helping hand, whether from humans or animals or nature and forces beyond our control.
Experiencing these extremes of emotion, recognizing these patterns and adapting our approach is what makes us human. With the advent of AI, it is pretty easy to get overwhelmed, but we should use this opportunity to get back to the drawing board, and leverage the power of this force to amplify our intelligence not think of it as a threat.
