Sarama
In all these years, I had never wondered about Vibhisena’s wife. I got called to her attention via the dud movie, Adhipurush, where she plays an important part in Lakshmana’s recovery from Indrajit’s vicious attack. She is the one who raises to Rama’s attention, the existence of the Sanjeevani herb that can serve as an antidote to the poisonous wound. This beautiful character garnered controversy for the wrong reasons. Sarama is known to have had a close relationship with Sita when she was at...

Have said this a few times in my runner career which is far from illustrious. Having completed 9 full marathons, I am no douchebag either. But only 1/3 of these can I say that I have truly run strong. One of those was in Chicago and the other at Big Sur, the third at Sacramento, and maybe a fourth at San Francisco. But the other 5 have been gasps to the finish line or barely even a finish. Take the one in LA, which ended in Santa Monica, or the one which took me through a steep uphill finish ...
Happy 47th AK
AK would have been 47.. but alas! Still in my fond memories. Rushing to catch the same 5B bus as she would, walking back from Adyar Signal for a short furlong or two to Parameshwari Nagar and then a long trek back to my place.. Some things last such a short clock time and yet they last a lifetime in memory. This is an inversion of the Pareto principle where the most memorable incidents are also some of the most extreme emotions that one feels, whether pain, joy, success or of course, love. Re...

This is the 50th post in this space. 45 of them came this year, 31 of them within the past 3 months after the “Sorry for the break” post, that is better than 10 a month and more than 2 a week. Some weeks have seen more than 5. But I digress as I am not really keeping score, it is just something that caught my eye on Mirror when I saw Posts 49. I did not think I had written so much, so just went back. Many of the posts are reflection posts, memory posts or wisdom tidbits and some random thoughts. All of them were free flowing, no script or plan, no copy or rewrites, no editorial reviews, social media promotions or any of the high pressure and forced writing.
None of these were written for commercial or show purposes, just for myself and so far this has been great. No expectations to live up to, no quality standards to maintain, no political correctness to worry about, and no toxicity of any kind. This is what Free speech looks like. Free, unbridled thoughts, topics, expression.
Any time there is anything to say, I have a space to reflect and write. This is becoming part of my habit that was long lost. Writing on blogs, emails and other written medium has become more natural, authentic, vibrant and free flowing as it once was. The muscle is not lost, but has weakened in mass substantially, so each of these “reps” or posts are making it stronger and come back.
Thank you and much gratitude to the opportunities that life gives us. Like I said, I am not keeping score, but this will become a 100 and a 5000 soon! Whether people read or not is hardly the point, Arweave will preserve these and they will make part of a digital inscription like we read cavemen. Some AI algorithm might scour these writings to understand what life looked like in 2023 when humans ruled the earth. Let this be training data, or not. It is but one outlet to express freely. That, I will utilize.
Sarve Bhavantu Sukinaha. Happy Poonal to my nephew, Vaibhav in Trissur today. I intend to get to know him, don’t know much more than I hear. A great artist, an intelligent student and a good kid. Wish him well.
