Sarama
In all these years, I had never wondered about Vibhisena’s wife. I got called to her attention via the dud movie, Adhipurush, where she plays an important part in Lakshmana’s recovery from Indrajit’s vicious attack. She is the one who raises to Rama’s attention, the existence of the Sanjeevani herb that can serve as an antidote to the poisonous wound. This beautiful character garnered controversy for the wrong reasons. Sarama is known to have had a close relationship with Sita when she was at...
Happy 47th AK
AK would have been 47.. but alas! Still in my fond memories. Rushing to catch the same 5B bus as she would, walking back from Adyar Signal for a short furlong or two to Parameshwari Nagar and then a long trek back to my place.. Some things last such a short clock time and yet they last a lifetime in memory. This is an inversion of the Pareto principle where the most memorable incidents are also some of the most extreme emotions that one feels, whether pain, joy, success or of course, love. Re...

Remembering you, lovely AK, on what would have been your 46th birthday.
Too bad our time together was so short and yet so sweet, ever so memorable almost 30 years since we even had a conversation! Those teeny tiny memories from those bus rides back on 5B, where you would give up your seat gladly for anyone that did not even need it. Those classes in which your shy demeanor would hide your underlying brilliance. The charity events for the deaf and dumb, who you would rather spend your Diwali with and walks back home where someone like me would take an extra long walk just to have your company.
These memories may not be understood by someone that just reads the words, but the fact the these have stayed on for a remarkable 1500 times the length of time we ever spent with each other, is mind-blowing. Perhaps that is what is referred to as eternal soul and timeless memories. It does not matter how long, it is all about how deep and what impression you have.
Spent hours browsing your journey today, your whereabouts, your time after our overlap, your ambitions, your wedding, your struggles, your everyday small wins, your kid and ultimately your untimely and very unfortunate end… and as I learned within the ashes of
An innocent, helpful, dutiful, friendly and motherly life. Your kids are doing well, I am following them too. Hopefully they will remember what an awesome mother you were and how much you still love them from up above the world, so high… Like you, your kids are attached to charity, to volunteering, they have kind hearts, they swim, they are taken care of by someone that shares Lord Rama’s mother’s name, perhaps this is god’s own way of telling you that he has you attending to better things while he sends other kind souls to take care of your own. I hope your parents are well - I know they miss you every single day wherever they are…
Always in my thoughts - shine wherever you are… Rest in Peace, AK!
