Sarama
In all these years, I had never wondered about Vibhisena’s wife. I got called to her attention via the dud movie, Adhipurush, where she plays an important part in Lakshmana’s recovery from Indrajit’s vicious attack. She is the one who raises to Rama’s attention, the existence of the Sanjeevani herb that can serve as an antidote to the poisonous wound. This beautiful character garnered controversy for the wrong reasons. Sarama is known to have had a close relationship with Sita when she was at...
Happy 47th AK
AK would have been 47.. but alas! Still in my fond memories. Rushing to catch the same 5B bus as she would, walking back from Adyar Signal for a short furlong or two to Parameshwari Nagar and then a long trek back to my place.. Some things last such a short clock time and yet they last a lifetime in memory. This is an inversion of the Pareto principle where the most memorable incidents are also some of the most extreme emotions that one feels, whether pain, joy, success or of course, love. Re...

This question was posed by my child this evening and it baffled me. Is this where we are headed as a species? Could very well be. We are no longer talking on the phone as we are texting. Yes, today it is a human texting back, but in future, who knows? It could be a bot that knows how we respond and it does it on our behalf? Today there are push buttons that say “Can I call you later?” or “Driving now” automatically when we set the phones in driving mode or focus mode.
It is very likely to have bots be the companions for our grand kid. Our kids are no longer going to the playground as we once did. There are bowling machines, computers playing chess better than anyone of us do, they adjust to our levels, etc. There are simulators for everything from piloting airplanes to racing cars.
With all things AI taking over, might we just be the bozos that sit on couches in Wall-E growing our bellies and not able to get up from those? Hope not… we need Natural Intelligence to prevail and use bots to help us develop even more. AI does not fill me up with dread, it gives me hope. Full hope that we can harness it to do so much more…
