Russian Opposition use Rarimo’s Freedom Tool to launch surveillance-free voting app
The Rarimo community built Freedom Tool with the dream of using blockchain and privacy tech to help people in regimes vote without the fear of being traced. That dream is now becoming a reality. Russian opposition have used Freedom Tool to launch Russia2024, an app that allows dissenting citizens to sign petitions, vote in polls, and participate in protest elections without being traced. Built and led by prominent anti-Putin activist and former Pussy Riot lawyer Mark Feygin, Russia2024 was re...

Building ZK passport-based voting
Oleksandr Kurbatov, Lasha Antadze For a while, the dream of decentralized, anonymous voting felt illusory. Solutions like Semaphore are excellent for low-risk scenarios such as private DAO voting, but state elections and other high-risk scenarios require the anonymity, eligibility and uniqueness of voters to be totally guaranteed. Historically, decentralized voting systems have only ever been able to guarantee two of these three properties at once. Rarimo’s Freedom Tool was the first solution...

In this newsletter, we explore Rarimo’s work using blockchain to counteract AI-generated bots and deepfakes. We also provide a teaser for an upcoming announcement at EthCC, and we introduce our work with tokenized bookstore BookCrypto.com.
Rarimo’s June Highlights
Counteracting AI with Blockchain
Rarimo and Polygon at ETHCC
Token Agnostic Payments for Bookrypto
Counteracting AI with Blockchain
With its focus on digital identity, Rarimo is at the center of web3’s work combatting AI-fuelled identity fraud. This week, The Block quoted Lasha Antadze, the co-founder of Rarify Labs, a service provider focused on supporting Rarimo, stating:
As AI makes the internet a less trustworthy place, its proliferation amplifies the need for reliable sources of authenticity and creates an opportunity for blockchain to become a critical piece of infrastructure.
The two key ways AI threatens digital identity are that it makes it difficult to determine firstly, if the entity you’re interacting with is human, and secondly, if the person you’re interacting with is who they say they are.
Current identity solutions are not proficient — AI bots can already trick captchas, and AI fraudsters can already fool even advanced biometric security systems. Robust solutions will need to prove the source of an identity credential, confirming that it was generated not by malicious AI but by a trusted body. With traceability and security as its hallmarks, this is where blockchain technology comes into play.
In July and August, Rarimo will be announcing two digital identity use cases and integrations that counteract AI identity fraud.

Rarimo will be demoing a groundbreaking collaboration with Polygon at EthCC Paris.
We can’t say too much yet, other than this partnership centers on digital identity.
If you’re in town, join us. The demo will take place on the main stage as part of Polygon’s DevX day at Huit Valois, 8 Rue de Valois, 75001 Paris, France.
The demo will be followed with a short speech and Q&A.

Rarimo has partnered with Distributed Labs to enable token-agnostic payments on Bookcrypto, the platform that transfers books into NFT collectibles.
Bookcrypto.com users are now able to make single-click, single-fee cross-chain purchases with Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, and Avalanche.
Rarimo makes this possible by swapping users’ tokens to an external DEX and sending the new tokens to the marketplace smart contract to purchase the NFT. The feature also integrated Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) which allows users who pay with USDC to burn their tokens on one chain and re-mint them on another.

Happy reading and secure transactions!
