If you love your Nollywood served with extra spice, scheming, romance, and that classic campus glamour, then Campus Queen is about to become your new obsession. Directed with just the right amount of flair, this fresh university drama delivers laughs, gasps, and plenty of “ah-ah!” moments that will keep you glued to your screen.
The story kicks off with Jumoke (played by the promising Mojoyin Fadaka), a wide-eyed new student stepping into the chaotic world of university life. She’s immediately paired with the stunning Isla (Annabel Apara), a social media influencer whose entire existence revolves around likes, followers, and the burning desire to be crowned “campus queen.” Annabel Apara is pure fire here – she brings Isla’s larger-than-life personality to the screen with effortless beauty and a dramatic edge that makes every scene she’s in pop. You can’t help but watch her, even when she’s being delightfully shady.
Things take a juicy turn when Isla discovers that Jumoke is related to Anderson (Fortune Kingsley), the wealthiest, most eligible (and most arrogant) guy on campus. Suddenly, the fake pleasantries turn into full-on friendship as Isla sets her sights on bagging Anderson to secure her crown. Fortune Kingsley absolutely devours the role of the cruel, untouchable rich boy. He plays Anderson with such cold charisma that you love to hate him – every smirk, every cutting remark lands perfectly.
But the real twist comes when Isla finally gathers the courage to confess her feelings… only for Anderson to hit her with the ultimate humiliation: date his lowly servant Darius for three months, and then he’ll consider her worthy. Enter Eronini Osinachim as Darius, who gives us serious modern-day Cinderella vibes – humble, kind, and quietly charming. Osinachim’s performance is heartfelt and understated, providing the perfect contrast to the flashy ambition swirling around him. You can’t help but root for him.
What follows is a “fake relationship” packed with hilarious situations, growing tension, and the kind of slow-burn chemistry that Nollywood does so well. Isla thinks she’s playing a game to get closer to Anderson, but we all know where this is heading – and the journey is an absolute delight.
The entire cast is on fire. Mojoyin Fadaka brings a sweet authenticity to Jumoke, making her the perfect audience stand-in as she watches the drama unfold. The chemistry between the four leads crackles, and the script keeps the pacing tight while still giving us those iconic Nollywood monologues we crave.
Without spoiling the ending, let’s just say the final scenes leave everything perfectly teetering on the edge – and yes, there’s a very clear hint at Campus Queen Part 2. Consider me seated already!
Verdict: 9/10
Campus Queen is glamorous, funny, dramatic, and entertaining. It’s the kind of movie you’ll finish and immediately start recommending to your group chat. Nollywood campus dramas don’t get much better than this – grab your popcorn and thank me later!
