Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Today’s teaching tells us the importance of having friends — or even just one more person to rely on. After the year I had in 2025, this is a message that I really needed.
Last year, I did not want to reach out to anyone. I just wanted to sink into my hole and give up on everything. I was falling and there was no one to help me — or at least that’s how it felt. Not only did I think there was no one to help me, I did not want to help myself either.
Yesterday was a good reminder of why I need people.
I met up with a friend I had not spoken to for quite a while, and he offered help — not just in advice, but in real, actionable ways. Spending the evening with him showed me again that there are people who care.
As we grow older, we naturally grow distant because of increasing responsibilities. But that does not mean the love disappears.
I also had three very productive meetings yesterday, each opening my eyes to wisdom in different areas. That is the power of community. It opens doors — as long as you show up.
Another happy moment yesterday was getting my boss to say the sinner’s prayer.
My church asked me to list three people I wanted to bring closer to Christ this year, and she was one of them.
While building personal community is important, we also must not neglect the community Christ has brought us into. The Holy Spirit bonds us, and it is up to us to keep inviting people into this loving family.
We owe it to the people we love to share the grace and salvation Jesus has given us.
My friend asked me what my main goal is this year.
My answer stayed the same: I want to get back to living in Vietnam — and I am manifesting that through my daily actions.
I am getting better every day.
Time to recite my daily affirmation.
If this spoke to you, consider subscribing to follow along my journey of faith, meditation and rebuilding— one day at a time.
Your support truly means more than you know. ❤️
