5 The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters,
but one who has insight draws them out.
6 Many claim to have unfailing love,
but a faithful person who can find?
7 The righteous lead blameless lives;
blessed are their children after them.
We continue today’s scripture reading with three more verses of wisdom from the Bible.
The first verse talks about how hard it is to know the purpose in one’s heart. The deep waters signify how much depth there is to the purposes we hold dear. As we walk through life, that purpose may change, and we will continuously see how it evolves.
We need to pray that God—from whom all wisdom flows—will give us the insight to be able to draw out the true purposes of our hearts.
The second verse talks about how easily we might say we have unfailing love. But we know that as humans, we all fall short. It is hard to remain faithful when we are sinful creatures.
That said, we can take pride and comfort in the fact that Jesus came to earth to show us what true unfailing love really is.
Through His shining example, we can grow closer to the ideal state. We will never be perfect like Him, but we can give our best human effort to live more Christlike lives. We have to let Him lead us in love so that we can show love to the world the way He has shown it to us.
The third verse speaks about living blameless lives.
We are given the Bible—God’s Word—to show us how to live this way. Throughout the millennia that have passed, Scripture has guided billions of people. We are called to strive toward these blameless lives so that our children, and the generations after us, will know how to walk the way Jesus taught.
As we approach the weekend, let us reflect on both the faith we carry and the purposes we hold in our hearts.
May the One from whom all wisdom comes shower us with insight—showing us how He wants us to be faithful and how He wants us to walk closely with Him.
God bless you this wonderful Friday.
