“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the good things of the land;
but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Today’s reading talks about how our sins stain us scarlet, but God sent Jesus to die for our sins and make us white as snow. God’s invitation shows us how much love He holds for us. No matter how great our sins, He is willing to wipe the slate clean.
This promise of forgiveness and renewal brings fresh beginnings. All we have to do is go to Him. He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins. Not only will He start us afresh—if we follow Him willingly and with obedience, He will bring about blessings that only He can provide.
The flip side is true as well. If we rebel against our Lord, we will have to bear the consequences of our own actions. This shows us that we do have a choice.
We can choose to obey God and walk the path that leads to life.
Or we can choose to rebel and take the path toward destruction.
Scripture is honest about that reality.
Faith is not just belief. It is revealed in every action we take.
Each day, we choose whether our actions glorify God or rebel against Him. We say we trust Him—so we choose to walk in obedience. When we are willing and obedient, that is when God pours out His blessings on us.
Let us approach God with willing hearts full of repentance. In that posture, we also fill our hearts with hope—hope that our God wants the best for us.
He desires to journey with us.
To commune with us.
To wipe away our sins.
To bless us with abundance.
Let us choose to seek God and stop rebelling.
