There is a growing trend on socials that are people creating essentially weekly “reports” of all the content they consume. Movies, series, books, articles, and music.

I posted this pic of some of my yearly stack of books I've read, and i shocked myself how this is still the best way to keep track of all the knowledge and influence i am taking in. A screenshot of an IMDB page, a new playlist in Spotify, or a picture of a stack of books? Damn.

Close to impossible to automate, since it's deeply personal how and what order we find these sources of content and actually spend precious time taking it in. I am wondering if pictures and screenshots are the way with image recognition. I almost always take a picture of the book I am reading in a cafe, on shelves, on my table.

For songs and podcasts, Spotify has a pretty generous API, that should cover most of the automation. Movies and series are the most difficult to pull in since they are distributed amongst tooooo many streaming platforms, and live events like a cinema or watching it in your friend’s living room, but apps like Lunchboxd could help with that too.

I want to see a collection of all of the major pieces of content that shape me, my thoughts and conversations. To see how my taste changes over years, how often do I keep going back to my comfort shows, what books I've suggested to loved ones they actually read so we can talk about it, etc.

I fear to forget. I want to remember.

I want to share that I thought of you when I watched this movie, how much you would like it, I wish we could watch it together., if you do read the book I've lent you you would also enjoy these other three and I can lend it to you. Even if it takes manually keeping log of the collection of content I consume, going back in time as far as I can remember, until I figure out some tech to automate some of this for me.
