Host: Could you introduce Rove and its Beta Launch?
Stacy @ Rove: So Rove is your address in the metaverse. You can create your own social space in VR/3D to hang out with your friends, co-workers, and customers. So basically, it’s a better and more immersive way to meet people. Rove is no longer an idea, the Beta Launch is ready for the users to claim and mint. Rove is live now, you can go to Rove and create your own 3D home.
Host: Who can join and what can people do on Rove?
Stacy @ Rove: Anyone can join Rove. There are many use-cases: 3D stores, art galleries, etc. So right now we are building the artist community. Many of them are using Behance, Dribbble.. We show them the product demo on Rove and they love it! Rove allows them to have a better display of their works.
Recently, our team had a meeting with a writer of Forbes magazine and we talked about a very cool transformation for recruitment. We could use Rove to set up interviews and organize virtual career fairs.
Host: How does one earn money on Rove? Is there any benefit to joining Rove in the early stages?
Stacy @ Rove: Right now, we are focusing on developing the product, monetization tool for users will come in later stages. It’s all about having exposure to VR, web3 projects. Right now people can also mint virtual apartments.
Our goal is to have as many users using Rover and use cases as possible. We see the potential of this turning into the 3d web.
Host: What are the differences between Rove and other VR/3D metaverse projects?
Stacy @ Rove: Rove is an open and community-driven metaverse where it’s a user-owned and user-created network.
Daniel @ Ready Player Me: At the moment, we have 1,600 partners in our network. Compared to other projects, I think Rove has the advantage of a web-based platform, making it very easy for everyone to connect and doesn’t require any XR devices. Since the entry barrier is low, Rove seems like an effortless way to meet your colleagues in the metaverse. There’s also a link to quickly invite people to your space or join a meeting.
Host: What would be the next step for Rove?
Stacy @ Rove: Right now, we are expanding our user network, exploring more use cases, and rolling out more partnerships.
Host: Are you guys thinking about implementing AR or VR into Rove?
Kojiro @ Rove: VR is something we are very passionate about. But along the way when we launched Alpha One, we realized that not everyone has a VR device, so we shifted our plan a little bit - focusing on the desktop version. We want Rove to be accessible to anyone, even people with a low-end PC. We spend lots of time optimizing our environment to be used on any type of computer. The next version we want to ship is the mobile version since everyone has a mobile device. VR is next in line. But AR is not our priority at the moment.
Host: Do you plan to create a full-body photo scanning feature to generate a full-body avatar?
Daniel @ RPM: At the moment, we only have two options for the body type: masculine or feminine. We plan to have more diverse options for our users. But yeah, full-body photo scanning can be an interesting idea to explore, we are just not sure how possible it would be. But our data science team has done lots of crazy things in the past, so maybe we can turn this into reality.
Host: Can the avatar hold something in its hands? Or have more interaction using the hands?
Daniel @ RPM: It really depends on the developers of the project, Ready Player Me is just fully focused on creating the avatars. For example, Rove’s developers have the option to enable hands to interact with the environment.
Host: Do you consider adding themed avatars? For example, avatars look like characters in Game of Thrones**.**
Daniel @ RPM: We do have different themes for the outfits. For example, last year we partnered with Warner Bros to create outfits from the Dune movie. So yes we are looking to partner with more companies and brands to bring those “iconic” outfits to RPM.
Host: We are heading toward a decentralized and personalized world, what is RPM’s opinion about virtual identity. Assuming that metaverse can reach the mass adoption stage, should we be obliged to verify our virtual identity?
Daniel @ RPM: At the moment, our priority is to make sure that RPM is a free and easy tool for the developers. In the future, we will be looking for a way so users can claim their identity and verify it.
Besides learning and sharing, we did enjoy every moment together on rove.to/readyplayerme. Review our best moment made on the metaverse.
