Ministers are poised to blame China for cyberattacks on the elections watchdog and MPs.

Deputy PM Oliver Dowden is expected to take the dramatic step of accusing Beijing of being behind a hack that accessed the personal details of 40million Brits.

In a statement to the Commons this afternoon, he is also set to hit out at the Asian power for targeting MPs critical of the regime, including 'impersonating' them on email.
