Just an interesting observation, but I find that I will sometimes tell a funny story about my friends, to a new acquaintance, only for the new acquaintance to make fun of my friends. Exactly like I was doing. Only then I get defensive. Why is that? Why would I tell a funny story about my friends, only to get defensive when others find it funny. Seems a little self-defeating.
