Today marks the beginning of a new series, and the name of this series is “The Doors of Wonder: Mysteries and Myths.”
Since childhood, we have all heard many famous stories, such as those about the Bermuda Triangle, where ships and airplanes disappear without a trace. For children of the 1990s, the Bermuda Triangle might have been the most mysterious place in the world. We used to think about the existence of jinns, or the Dajjal, because there was always some show about the mystery of Bermuda. Documentaries about Bermuda are still available on channels like National Geographic and Discovery Channel. They all talk about this mysterious area where everything goes missing.

Over time, the Bermuda Triangle has become a place associated with supernatural and mysterious phenomena where no one ever returns. But what is the explanation for all these disappearances? Perhaps no one has definitively answered this question. Still, the concept of Bermuda remains ingrained in our minds. However, as time passed, questions began to arise about the credibility of Bermuda’s entire potential, and there were some significant reasons for these doubts.
After the year 2000, a new era began. A new millennium, the use of the internet became commonplace worldwide, and information from one country reaching another within moments became the daily norm. In this age of the internet, many people have started sharing their daily lives through videos. The internet world knows these people as vloggers. Some people create vlogs about their daily lives, while others teach cooking. But among these vloggers, some have adventurous natures and have started exploring mysterious places. These adventurers film their experiences in haunted houses and share their videos with the world. Some camp in forests and mountains and film their interesting experiences.
But among these adventurous people, a few wanted to take their adventures to the extreme. They wanted to go beyond ordinary haunted houses and camping in forests or mountains. So they gathered their wealth and resources and set out for perhaps the most enigmatic place in today’s world: the Bermuda Triangle, where they arrived with their video cameras and equipment.
They film videos of themselves wandering in and around Bermuda and claim that there’s nothing special there. They assert that the Bermuda Triangle is just a fraud, a hoax, and only simple-minded people believe in these rumors. With the abundance of these videos, a large number of people started believing that Bermuda might indeed be just a myth or legend. It seemed like a place that had been given more credit than it deserved.
Then, to add to the damage to Bermuda’s mysterious concept, there was another factor: flight data available on the internet. In recent years, many flight routes of airplanes that had disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle and its surrounding areas have been made public. If you look at a flight map of the area, you’ll still see numerous flights passing through this region as usual. After seeing these pictures and videos, it seems that Bermuda’s legend might really be just a legend, nothing more than a myth. But there remains a question: if Bermuda is indeed just a myth, what could be the explanation for the disappearances that have occurred there?
I am sure that those who have previously heard about the Bermuda Triangle are somewhat familiar with it. But before I take you deeper into Bermuda, let me briefly introduce it so that those who are not familiar with it or who have only heard about it casually can join us on this journey.
The Bermuda Triangle is an area between the states of Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Bermuda Islands, forming a triangular shape. It is mostly covered by water, specifically in the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Since this entire area is located in the sea, it is not easy to determine its boundaries. The size of the Bermuda Triangle is reported differently by various sources, ranging from 1,300,000 square kilometers to 4,000,000 square kilometers. Within this area, 50 ships and 20 aircraft have disappeared.
The world’s attention was first drawn to this region in the 1950s when an American newspaper, the Miami Herald, published a news report about it. Two years later, a magazine published an article by George Xent on Bermuda Triangle titled “Strange and Backdoor,” which began to popularize Bermuda Triangle as a mysterious place around the world. Over time, more articles were written on the Bermuda Triangle.
For example, the American Legion magazine published an article on the missing ships of Bermuda Triangle. Another article was published in the magazine on these missing ships. Eventually, a book named “The Lost Horizons” was written about these disappearances, and it was not the only one of its kind. Several books have been written on Bermuda Triangle, such as “Limbo of the Lost,” “Bermuda Triangle,” and “The Devil’s Triangle,” and I’ve only mentioned English articles and books. Bermuda Triangle is a topic that has books written in almost every language in the world. For instance, in Arabic, there is Abdul Rahman Bakar’s book “Haqaiq Min Al-Khayal,” and in Urdu, there are several books such as “Jazeera Bermuda” and “Misal Bermuda.”
Here is a question for you: After countless books written in the languages of the six continents, is it sufficient for an internet blogger to say that all of this is false and fraudulent? This would be a great injustice to the hundreds of people who have gone missing in that area. It would be a grave injustice to dismiss the deaths of these dozens of individuals as mere lies or frauds. It would not only be an injustice to the deceased but also a form of avoiding the search for truth because, from the mid-19th century to now, the Bermuda Triangle has seen the disappearance of 50 ships and 20 aircraft.
Some of these missing ships were later found, but their entire crew was missing. What is also surprising is that before disappearing, most of these ships had never sent out a distress signal, which is a signal sent to the control tower when a ship is in trouble. Most of these ships never sent a distress signal, yet they disappeared from existence as if they had never been there.
I am sure you have heard about some major disappearances, but along with this introduction, I will also briefly tell you about these disappearances so you can grasp the sensitivity and depth of this issue.
One of the major disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle is the case of the British ship HMS Atlanta, which vanished in 1880 with its entire crew, and nothing was ever found about its whereabouts. Another major name is the American ship USS Cyclops, which is considered the second-largest maritime disaster in American history. This ship also disappeared in 1918 with all 309 passengers on board, and no trace was ever found. The following year, in 1919, a somewhat different incident occurred. An American ship was found drifting in the sea near the Triangle with its entire crew missing, and no one knew what happened to them.
Perhaps the most famous incident is Flight 19, where five aircraft disappeared as a group while passing through the Bermuda Triangle. An unusual thing happened in the case of Flight 19: a rescue plane sent to search for these aircraft also disappeared with its entire crew, which is significant because rescue planes are equipped to handle all kinds of weather and conditions. The disappearance of a well-equipped plane like this seems almost inexplicable.
In the infamous waters, two planes, named Star and Douglas, disappeared in 1948 and 1949 with at least 50 people onboard, without leaving any trace, as if they had vanished into thin air. There was no sign of these planes at all.
There is one incident, relatively lesser known, involving a small boat rather than a big ship. In 1955, a pleasure boat found drifting near Bermuda was empty, meaning it was a type of boat used for parties and family events on the sea, but this boat was found drifting like a ghost without any trace of its occupants. The boat had weathered three storms, which is an important point I will discuss further.
If the Bermuda Triangle is merely an illusion, then what could be the cause of these incidents?
In this series, I will present all the possible reasons that should first come to mind. But before I discuss all possible reasons and explanations for these disappearances and mysteries, I want to tell you about two other places that are as mysterious as the Bermuda Triangle. One of these places you might have heard of, but you may not be familiar with the other.
The first place is the Devil’s Triangle, also known as the Dragon Triangle or Formosa Triangle, located in the waters south of Japan.
In 1945, a Japanese aircraft, the Six Zero, disappeared with its entire crew, and this was during World War II, a time when accidents were not unusual. The disappearance of this aircraft was significant because it occurred when major countries were trying to end the war and no country wanted to reignite it. The disappearance of this aircraft raised many questions and prompted a thorough investigation, revealing some important findings that I will discuss later.
About ten years after this incident, in 1955, another Japanese naval vessel, the Kaiomaru №5, was dispatched to locate its lost ships and disprove the New York Times’ claims about this area. This ship, equipped with all kinds of technologies to handle any weather or disaster, also disappeared without a trace, leading the Japanese government to declare the area a danger zone.
But after the Bermuda and Japan Triangles, there is another place, the Alaska Triangle, that very few people might know about. It is a vast area covered with dense forests, extreme cold, and snowfall, which can be as high as ten meters. In the Alaska Triangle, large numbers of people have gone missing over the years, and their stories are often reported in the media. Most of these disappearances are unexplained. I will also cover some of these mysterious disappearances.
In this series, I will not only take you on a journey to explore these mysterious places but will also discuss their possible causes. I hope to cover all the major theories and concepts related to these places.
Thank you for listening. Wait for the Next Episode.
