This is not just a TV show.
This is real life.
I can not tell you how many of these people I came across in California when I was beginning my career in software development.
One of them was even my college roommate if that is the term people want to describe it as.
These people are very good at hiding in plane sight.
They are charming at times or very intimidating.
But to me it didn’t matter. Something just seemed off, so I would abandon their projects or outright reject them.
Sometimes I would even laugh in their faces, I would trick them into giving me evidence without even having to hack into their network or install some type of JavaScript tracker on their device to gain access to their private files. They would just give to me incriminating evidence thinking I was a client and not some one trying to out them.
Unfortunately I didn’t record those conversations or the evidence was deleted by Godaddy due to lack of payment on the email server.
I tried. Now just giving a heads up to others to be careful because if something seems too good to be true than it is probably because it is.
You always have to ask, what is the catch?
If that catch is something you can live with or are able to fix and turn into something positive than it is worth it. If it’s not, don’t just back up slowly. Run as fast as you can.
Not sure I want to be in this field or occupation anymore. Seems hazardous.
