Monica is an artist whose experiences have helped develop a distinct style of photography which captures her passion for adventure & travel. She immortalizes her memories through photo, sharing unique glimpses of the world & pushing us to get outside our comfort zone.

I vibe with Monica's art because it's a unique blend of landscape & travel photography that mixes so well together. She provides incredible perspectives on the places she visits & in-turn pushes her physical & mental limits to bring these photos to life.

A piece that sticks out to me is 'ALIVE' (Manifold link). I absolutely love how the colors in the sky change from the left to the right. It's as if the image is coming to life, starting from darkness and transitioning into the beautifully bright light of the stars.

If I had unlimited ETH I would cop 'Impermanence' (SuperRare link). The only constant in life is change. I see this piece as the division in time between a significant life event. The impermanence of experiences & situations in life makes living distinctly human.

You should scope out Monica's work because it's a catalogue filled with incredibly crisp images that blend the most minuscule of details with the grandest of mountains. Her work will inspire you to be more adventurous, showing us the stunning places that exist in this world.

A new section of the newsletter this week, guest curated by artist and curator Rebecca Rose, bringing to light opportunities for grants and art submissions.

Here are 6 opportunities to submit to (click hyperlinks):

• Bemis is offering an artist residency in Omaha, NB, with an open theme. The residency length is from September to November 2024. The deadline is August 1, 2023. It is open to all artists internationally, and a $1250 monthly stipend plus a $750 travel stipend will be provided. There is a $40 entry fee.

• Art On Loop Europe is hosting a call for artists/exhibition in Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris. The theme is open, and digital artworks, films, and videos are accepted. The deadline is June 28, 2023, and the exhibition will take place from July to August 2023. It is open to all artists internationally, and there is no entry fee, but there is a fee if selected for the exhibition (180-280 euros including VAT).

• No Dead Artists is a call for artists/exhibition at Jonathan Ferrera Gallery in New Orleans, LA. The theme is open, including videos. The deadline is June 19, 2023, and the exhibition will be held in fall 2023. It is open to all artists internationally, with a $35 entry fee and a 50% gallery commission if the work sells.

• WIP Arts and Technology Festival is hosting a call for artists/exhibition in Nicosia, Cyprus, with a theme of AR/VR. The deadline is June 19, 2023, and the exhibition will take place on September 23, 2023. It is open to all artists internationally, and there is no entry fee.

• Passepartout Photography Award is calling for artists for an exhibition and award in Rome. The theme is open, and it accepts digital, AI, experimental, and film photography. The deadline is October 10, 2023, and the exhibition will be held in autumn 2024. The award is 500 euros plus an exhibition, and the entry fee is 25 euros.
