“Imagine a world where every purchase made on Amazon, digital or physical, that's shipped to your house is done through a smart contract instead of all the web 2.0 way of doing things. Or buying like a house where all the escrow and the taxes are wrapped up in the smart contract instead of like mounds of paperwork, it's the future of digital assets and just selling things over a digital medium, I think.” - Ben Strauss, SHILLR VAULT3D Podcast, Episode 9.

“Creating for me can be therapeutic. You know, if I go long breaks in between creating, I sort of lose my sense of direction. On “Why Art?” with SHILLR, we had the comfiest chat w/ DeeZe covering his journey to becoming one of the best stewards of Web3.
According to Deeze, collecting art is much more than a transaction:
“Make sure that you're just treating artists as people and not just like these unemotional like machines that output pieces of art on the blockchain for you to bid on. Like treat them like people who have feelings and ask them about why they create pieces.Try to talk about their inspirations and connect with them because if you don't know those stories and there's inspirations behind the art that you're collecting, like I don't know why you're collecting it in the first place.” - Deeze, Why Art? w/ SHILLR.

This week, we showcase an art gm artist, who has not yet been featured on the SHILLR Weekly Recap as part of Bernardo’s Art Café ‘From the Archives’. This week’s artist is Alizé Jireh. Thread originally posted May 12, 2023.

Alizé is a self-taught photographer and filmmaker whose conceptual work reflects someone seeking to find themselves in their most raw & sensual experiences. Alizé's art is often surreal, where she presents the human body as an inanimate object interacting with it's surrounding.

I vibe with Alizé's art because it's filled with the nostalgia of childhood & the raw & confusing desires of adulthood. Her accentuation of muted colors adds to the dreamscape hidden within the reality she captures. I find her concepts fascinating & her subject matter enticing.

A great entry into Alizé's art is through 'United by Grief'(OpenSea link). Such a playful yet powerful image - two friends embracing a moment, helping each other handle grief. Outside it's cloudy, though the sky clears as the spliff is passed and unity begins.

If I had unlimited ETH I would cop 'Interwoven' (Foundation link). We grow from the experiences & situations we find ourselves in. People grow together in these shared moments of struggle. When we fail to find the comfort we need we simply breathe. Absolutely beautiful.

You should scope out Alizé's work because she elegantly captures the human body, bringing to light deep emotions & contextualizing them in our shared surroundings. You'll be taken to lucid dreams, reliving moments of wonder, pain & desire that live in our constant reality.

If you're interested in checking out other artists I've featured or would like to recommend someone I should look into, head over to the below thread. Thanks for reading! ☕️ ✨ 💚
