“Basically what was happening in the eighties, you had this group of artists called The Picture Generation that were saying "there's so many images that have been produced already up to the 1980s, that we just need to repurpose what already exists there. And that sparked the whole controversy of like then, what is photography as art? And that sparked the post photographic-ness idea of, an artist that uses a photograph is post photographic.” - Alejandro Cartagena, SHILLR CURAT3D Podcast, Episode 15.

Monday on “Why Art?” with SHILLR, we had a powerful chat w/ bkayassi diving into her journey as a photographer and musician 🎼
In this clip, Yassi breaks down the relationship between her images and her music 👇
“It might always be my body and I might, smile, I might smirk. Most of the time I don't, but you're gonna get something different. And I think I try to like bring that element that you see from jazz into my artwork. As well as like in my own music, I try to bring that sort of like self-destruction, almost like the destruction of ego into my music.” - Yassi, Why Art? w/ SHILLR.

Thursday on GENERAT3D w/SHILLR, we chatted with purphat about his journey into software engineering & generative art. Here's his breakdown of what exactly generative art is 👇
“Generative artists are artists who are creating in the medium of creating a system that creates artworks. So it's the, the form of creating a machine that creates outputs. And so as a creator, you're thinking not just what is one specific visual output that I'm going to create, but like, what is the message that this algorithm is going to create by way of the set of outputs that it creates?“ - Purple Hat, GENERAT3D w/ SHILLR.

‘From the Archives’ is to showcase an art gm artist, who has not yet been featured on the SHILLR Weekly Recap as part of Bernardo’s Art Café. This week’s artist is femzor. Thread originally posted Feb 27, 2023.

Femzor is an artist who's work spans various mediums, including illustration, photo, graphic design & fashion. They're well known for their surrealism work, figure poses & Starzo character. Femzor's style is ever evolving & often mixes several techniques in a finished piece.

I vibe with Femzor's art because it feels deeply symbolic & personal. Just as their style is fluid, their themes are as well. Femzor can represent ideas like feeling stuck & being watched to then create pieces about intimacy & our connection to one another.

A great entry into Femzor's work is through “⋆✶☆STARZOS FROM MY SKETCHBOOK☆✶⋆”, an OE that was minted for .05 ETH in February, 2023. This is such a unique display of the Starzo character & feels rare to get insight into their sketchbook drawings.

If I had unlimited ETH I would toss a fat bid on 'A Dancing Sky'. I see a couple having a love-induced out of body experience together. The colors & vibe on this piece are absolutely stunning. Illustration by Femzor, photo by cnnnr.

You should scope out Femzor's work because viewing each piece of theirs feels like a unique experience. Whether you want to keep it light with Starzo or explore heavier themes, Femzor has something beautiful in their catalogue that will resonate with you.

If you're interested in checking out other artists I've featured or would like to recommend someone I should look into, head over to the below thread. Thanks for reading! ☕️ ✨ 💚
