TLDR ..the answer is nowhere.
Who are we? We are post civilization nomadic humans embarking on a journey while civilization collapses around us. What is the first rule before any journey? Travel light. There is simply no room in our packs for things we once held so tight. The first thing to go is anything not related to surviving the journey. What is survival in this apocalyptic age? Survival is positive mental attitude. Survival is friendship.
Positive Mental Attitude: How to stay positive? First, don’t panic. Some of us were raised on promises of a better future than previous generations. As we wander the wilderness in search of the promised land these promises seem far away. Some may never reach this oasis because it is an oasis of the mind. We must look within to find it.
Community: There is a saying “no money, no problem..no friends, problem.” There is no better gauge of friendship than a troubling time. To make friends is to be a friend. The transactional nature of past friendships is gone. If there is lack for anyone in your community this must be resolved. Friendship may be the only currency for a significant period of time as present currencies fail to report true relations. Friendship and community will become the most essential store of value.
Where are we going? We are going to the garden. The garden hasn’t went anywhere. It is our misunderstanding that everything is not actually ok with the world. In our pursuit of scientific knowledge we left the garden. We left open plains for the labyrinths of mind. Our calculating minds have invented time and money. The finer we slice with our scientific instruments the further we are separated from accurate perception. We need tools to lead us back to reality not further away from it. In the words of Japanese farmer Masanobu Fukuoka, “Humankind knows nothing at all. There is no intrinsic value in anything, and every action is futile, meaningless effort.”
We gave up the garden for a wasteland of illusion. To leave this wasteland we must cultivate our minds. We must harmonize our minds so we can coordinate with each other. Using the tools we have inherited from builders past and present we must work together to find our way. We go first to leave a trail to follow. Most importantly, we go so we can return. As written by T.S. Eliot, “we shall not cease from exploration ..and at the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” Godspeed travelers as we venture into the mother night together.
