Super Accounts: Accelerating meaningful contributions across the Superchain
To accelerate meaningful contributions across the Superchain, the Superchain Eco team has developed Super Accounts, Superchain native-smart accounts powered by Safe that allow users to earn Superchain Points for meaningful onchain participation, increase their Superchain Rank, and evolve their Account to unlock special perks, such as access to a weekly Superchain Raffle and discounts in applications. Visit account.superchain.eco to create your Super Account After winning first place in Nouns ...

OnChain Indicators of Engaged DAO Voters
Summary:Engaged governance participants were identified as the top 25% of governance voters ranked by voting frequency. Several onchain actions set engaged governance participants apart from the rest, most importantly voting frequency, number of votes, and number of delegates pledged to the participant. Other indicators of engaged governance participants include ENS registrations and the number of decentralized exchange (DEX) trades and NFT activity within the last 60 days.IntroThis research ...

The OP Stack accounts for 42.3% of all Layer 2 transactions. This last week, the Superchain saw on average 6.0M daily transactions, 35.3% of all Layer 2 transactions. The network boasts over 5,441 revenue-generating deployers, contributing to the Optimism Collective. To date, 15K ETH has been contributed to the Optimism Collective—Data Fetched from the Superchain Health Dashboard.
Boba Network has joined the Superchain ecosystem, enhancing interoperability and scalability across blockchains. Boba Network joined the Superchain ecosystem to boost interoperability, scalability, and decentralization. This move aligns with their mission to create a more connected blockchain space, offering better security, efficiency, and development opportunities for users and developers. The cLabs team has announced that the Alfajores L2 Hardfork is scheduled to take place on September 26, 2024. This significant upgrade will transition the Alfajores testnet to a Layer 2 network on Ethereum, enhancing performance, scalability, and developer experience. Key features of Alfajores L2 include fee abstraction (allowing gas fees to be paid with ERC-20 tokens like USDC and USDT), one-block finality, CELO token duality, staking rewards, and the use of EigenDA for data availability. This move brings Celo one step closer to functioning as a full-fledged Layer 2 on the Superchain. Read all the details here.
Mint has launched Mint Expedition Season 3, titled "Mountain Peak," focusing on the synergy between NFTs and sectors like DeFi, security, and real-world assets. This season introduces NFT-type quests that exclusively reward participants with Mint Expedition NFTs, which serve as proof of participation for future airdrops. A unified NFT airdrop is scheduled for October 18, and the season will feature timed quests with specific deadlines. Join the adventure here.
As part of Season 6 Intent 3B, the Optimism Collective has introduced Superchain Grants to empower OP Chains in expanding their ecosystems. These grants allow chains to apply for OP tokens, providing them with the resources needed to foster growth and innovation within the Superchain network.
In Cycle 27, the following chains have been approved for Superchain Grants:
Swan Chain - 500,000 OP
Base - 3,000,000 OP
Cyber - 500,000 OP
Redstone - 500,000 OP
Mode - 1,000,000 OP
Lisk - 500,000 OP
These approvals signify a collective effort to contribute to both ecosystem and Superchain growth. Check out the Cycle 27 results here.
Optimism has announced Retro Funding Round 6, aimed at rewarding contributions to Optimism Governance made between October 2023 and September 18, 2024, covering Governance Seasons 5 and 6. This round focuses on three main categories: Governance Infrastructure & Tooling (projects that enhance governance systems and accessibility), Governance Analytics (analyses that improve transparency and performance), and Governance Leadership (roles that go beyond basic responsibilities, such as hosting community calls or participating in councils). Read the full details here.
GFXLabs has put forward a proposal advocating for the accelerated decentralization of the Optimism governance system. The proposal highlights that, currently, the OP token and governance contracts are not under the control of the community but are managed by the Optimism Foundation. To address this, GFXLabs suggests a three-phase plan:
Phase I (Immediate): Transfer ownership of the OP token contract, governance contract, and governance funds to the community governance, allowing for direct control and decision-making.
Phase II (By Q1 2025): Bring the L1 Bridge Escrow under governance control and have the Optimism team present a roadmap for decentralizing the sequencer, which is responsible for processing transactions on the network.
Phase III (By Q2 2025): Achieve full control of the Optimism protocol by the community, including technical control over the network and complete decentralization of the sequencer.
The proposal aims to empower the Optimism community, enhance transparency, and align Optimism's governance model more closely with its competitors. Join the discussion here!
Superchain Eco has updated the Optimism S6 Mission Dashboard for Cycle 27. Check out the latest breakdown of proposals, budgets, and more on the updated dashboard here.
The Superchain has grown to 37 different OP Chains, each with its flourishing Ecosystem. These are some extra stories to make your Sunday that much more Super.
