OnChain Indicators of Engaged DAO Voters
Summary:Engaged governance participants were identified as the top 25% of governance voters ranked by voting frequency. Several onchain actions set engaged governance participants apart from the rest, most importantly voting frequency, number of votes, and number of delegates pledged to the participant. Other indicators of engaged governance participants include ENS registrations and the number of decentralized exchange (DEX) trades and NFT activity within the last 60 days.IntroThis research ...

The Optimism ecosystem is set to undergo a significant upgrade with the introduction of the Canyon hardfork, scheduled for activation on Superchain testnets on November 14th. This marks Optimism's first major network upgrade following the Bedrock release. Canyon includes support for the Shanghai and Capella hardforks, along with several minor bug fixes. Notably, it will modify the EIP-1559 mechanism to reduce the rate at which the basefee changes, ensuring a more stable gas fee environment. Additionally, Canyon introduces changes specific to the OP Stack and addresses the handling of unclosed channels, enhancing overall network efficiency.
This upgrade, which has already been successfully activated on a devnet, is a collaborative effort with Base and requires passing through the Optimism governance process for activation on OP Mainnet and other mainnets within the Superchain. Node operators are advised to prepare for this upgrade, which promises to bring the latest Ethereum mainnet features to all OP testnets. Read more about the Canyon hardfork and its impact on the Optimism ecosystem.

The first Onchain Cooperative Experiment by Mode, in collaboration with @friendtech, has concluded, marking a significant milestone in community engagement and the functionality of the FT app. While the commitment to key holders remains unwavering, Mode announces changes in its approach: they will no longer purchase more keys and will discontinue the Lotto/Buyback due to insufficient volume. However, holding the Mode key still offers valuable benefits, including eligibility for the FT Airdrop, a Mode Foundational NFT, and access to the Mode team.
This experiment has yielded vital insights into launch strategies, points mechanisms, bonding curve dynamics, and community engagement. As this chapter closes, Mode invites participants to stay tuned for the upcoming Experiment #2, promising continued innovation and collaboration in their journey. 🌟

We Love the Art" by Optimism is an exciting creator contest in the blockchain realm, offering a significant opportunity for artists and creators. It's a response to the influx of creative projects to the Superchain, aiming to spotlight and reward emerging on-chain creativity. The contest, reminiscent of "American Idol" for on-chain art, features a 1,000,000 OP prize pool and is judged by notable figures in the space. It celebrates creative freedom and invites global creators to showcase their talents. The contest includes diverse categories like A.I Art, Generative Art, Music, and 1of1s, with prizes across four tiers. Participants can gain exposure, community engagement, and a share of the prize pool. The initiative not only highlights artistic talent but also aligns with Optimism's vision of supporting public goods and fostering a fairer, more human-centric platform. This contest is a unique blend of technology and creativity, encouraging artists to explore the potential of blockchain in their work. Read more about "We Love the Art" and how it's shaping the future of on-chain creativity.

We have updated our Chains registry. The Tech column has been rebranded as "Version," highlighting the specific iteration of the OP Stack utilized by each chain. This led us to conclude that there are three distinct types of Optimistic chains.
Bedrock (OP Chain): This chain is considered an OP Chain as it runs the governance-approved release of the OP Stack, and, therefore, will be upgraded based on decisions by Optimism’s governance and contribute sequencer revenue back to the Optimism Collective Collective.
Bedrock: This chain runs a fork of the Bedrock version of the OP Stack, with or without potential modification. This chain is currently not part of the Superchain.
OVM: This chain runs a fork of the Optimism Virtual Machine. This is an outdated version of the OP Stack that is not eligible to participate in The Superchain.

We also started our new video series focused on the builder of the OP Stack. For our first episode, we sat down with Alex Harly from Superbridge. Where we discussed what it's like building on the OP Stack, the differences with other chains, and finally, Alex shared his advice for builders interested in building on the OP Stack.
