How It Works
The Taiko × Bitget card is a virtual Visa debit card that lets you spend stablecoins (USDT, USDC or USDS) anywhere Visa is accepted. Fund it from EVM chains like Arbitrum, Optimism, Base or Ethereum, and spend with no fees on your first 400 USDT per month. Activation is one-click KYC through Bitget Wallet, available to residents of Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Australia, Thailand, the Philippines, Europe, Brazil and Mainland China.
Why This Matters
Most crypto card infrastructure runs on centralised, permissioned rails. Payments happen off-chain, settlement is opaque, and the blockchain layer is just branding. Taiko's thesis is that decentralised infrastructure isn't optional for applications that need censorship resistance, transparency and global accessibility, and that includes payments.
This card is a test case. As adoption scales, transaction settlement moves onto Taiko's based rollup. If we can route refunds, rebates and eventually top-ups through decentralised infrastructure without compromising user experience, we prove that everyday consumer activity doesn't need to compromise on principles to work in practice.
