Welcome to Tantamount Labs + our first blog post! 🌟
We believe in NFTs and their power to transform business models, industries, and communities. We believe that each NFT holds great power. We believe each NFT should be secure and verifiable on its own. We believe in anonymity. We believe in decentralization. We believe in being open. We believe in security. We believe in cryptography. We believe in artists. We believe in community. We believe in utility. We believe in being for everyone.
We are two technical creators and Tantamount Labs is our brain child. We saw the problem of counterfeits, forgeries, scams, and lack of asset verifiability across the NFT ecosystem and wanted to solve it. We spend a lot of time on the security, data, and infrastructure side of crypto and believe that the core principles of crypto should be embedded in crypto products and projects; verifiability, integrity, cryptography, anonymity, security, decentralization, and openness.
We chose the name Tantamount because it is synonymous with same, but different. We think this is representative of the impact we can have on NFTs where they look the same as before, but with an added layer of verification, so different.⚡️🌚

We are providing open source tools & templates to add verifiability to NFTs at the asset layer. We want all artists, collectors, communities, brands, and beyond to have the ability to securely, and cryptographically verify each and every NFT on-chain, and across every ecosystem.
While some projects are offering verifiability through identities and wallet addresses we don’t believe this solution addresses the core problem of counterfeit NFTs, copycat projects, and NFT security across the industry. In order for NFT use cases to expand, cross-chain asset interoperability, and asset value to be realized, NFTs need to be verified safely, easily, and by anyone. Verifying NFTs according to wallet owners and identities creates a problem for anonymity and anyone wishing to keep themselves or their wallets private.
We want to verify an NFT at the asset layer so that an NFT can be proven and verifiable anytime, anywhere, and for any use case.
We add a layer of verification by allowing an artist, creator, or project to embed an attribute of their choice; signature, domain, twitter handle, etc. into any NFT without altering the image itself via steganography. This is encrypted through public private key cryptography so whatever is embedded remains secure and can be cryptographically verified on-chain through the decryption/verification of the public key. Once an NFT has a verifiable attribute it will be verifiable throughout its entire lifecycle.
Our products are open and will be available for everyone to use, always.
