CrypToadz: A Structured Analysis
Small, warty, pixelated frogs - unlikely candidates for NFT stardom. Why CrypToadz are durable, expectation-resistant, art-first PFPs and their resulting unique value proposition. In structured analyses, I’ll give a brief introduction before we answer the four basic questions. Questions one and four are open-ended, while questions two and three are structured:Why do people buy from this collection instead of others? What is this collection’s strategy and key questions we must answer? How good a...

TreasureDAO: A Structured Analysis
Executive Summary TreasureDAO oversees Treasure, a decentralized NFT ecosystem on Arbitrum that is built specifically for metaverse projects. Treasure utilizes the currency MAGIC, which provides liquidity and governance within the ecosystem. Projects are built and linked through MAGIC, both narratively and economically. In this fashion, Treasure becomes akin to Nintendo. Nintendo’s strength was not only developing world-class games in-house, but also leveraging its gaming system as a distribu...

The Loudest Voice in the Room
In the military, leaders often say they “spend 90% of their time with 10% of the people.” If you’ve ever been in a leadership position, you’ve probably experienced this. You inherit your team of 10, nine can do the job and perhaps need a tune-up here or there. Generally, they are off to the races. Then there is that one guy. Maybe he struggles to do the job, maybe he isn’t reliable, or maybe you just get a bad feeling in your gut. But you end up spending a disproportionate amount of time with...

If you've hung around the In-N-Out on Radford long enough, you'll hear the Dude wax poetic about either Tezos art in general or FX Hash or both.
The punchline is that some of the best art is on Tezos right now, full stop.
I'm not sure if it's the network effect of great artists, the low gas fees (pennies, at most), or accessible prices, but something magical is happening on that chain. If pressed, I’d point to the spectacular quality of the art and the price accessibility as two primary factors for excitement. The factors go hand-in-hand: permissionless architectures like FX Hash and reasonable entry points combine for a joyful experience for all.
However, when conversation comes to Tezos at meetups, I hear the same thing every time: "oh, I’ve heard about Tezos; but how or where do I even start?"
This post is meant to be an evergreen answer to that question.
Sometimes it's just easier to be told "make a PB&J with this wheat bread, Skippy, Smuckers, and cut into triangles" instead of "well, it all depends on what you want to eat for lunch."
So I'll be direct. Tezos enthusiasts, I’m sure you’ll excuse the lack of nuance to make this as simple as possible. Here’s how to get started:
Purchase XTZ (the primary currency on the Tezos network, often referred to informally as “tez”) on the centralized exchange (CEX) of your choice - but not FTX! Let’s start with $100, which at the time of writing gets you about 98 XTZ. Nice.
Download the Temple Wallet and follow the setup instructions*. You’ll find the process very similar to setting up a MetaMask wallet.
Follow this YouTube video for steps to transfer XTZ from the CEX to your Temple wallet.
The two primary marketplaces to actually buy the NFTs are objkt and FX Hash. On either one, you’ll need to sync your wallet in the upper right hand corner of the screen (and connect/sign a message proving you own the wallet). Now you’re ready!
But where to start?!
While definitely not financial advice, I’ve compiled a fun and diverse list of pieces (Google Sheet link here) that represent both generative art as well as pieces from some of the top artists on Tezos. And all cumulatively for less than $100.
Let’s see what we’re getting into (also note a few of these are multimedia, but I could only grab a screenshot):

Bonus: go to the "Explore” page of FX Hash, find a 1 tez/mint project you like with mints remaining, and mint your own piece! Minting is a special experience in generative art that not all can participate in on Ethereum due to the high prices of Art Blocks mints.
Enjoy!

*Note for newbies: Make sure to write your seed phrase somewhere safe. In the future/if you use Tezos more extensively, I strongly recommend purchasing a Ledger directly from their website and opening a Tezos wallet on a hardware device.
