As the world transitions into the realm of on-chain technologies, I've come to realize a glaring, long-term, consistent mistake in my thinking throughout my entire journey - my lack of commitment and unwavering focus on on-chain coding. This personal realization is something I'm publicly acknowledging now, marking my commitment to rectify this past oversight.
The struggle between creating something impactful for the masses and delving deep into on-chain development has consistently been my dilemma. Since my early introduction to cryptocurrencies in 2017, I've explored various ideas, from on-chain developer marketplaces to task-based micropayments, but I never fully committed my unwavering focus to on-chain coding as a whole.
I made a series of personal excuses: Solidity felt complicated, it didn't seem powerful enough, and there were no users on-chain in 2017. I doubted if this concept would survive in 2018 and questioned its scalability in 2019. Life took its turn in 2020, and I became busy working at wallet startups, which seemed like the direction of the industry since 2021. Life took another turn in 2022, and now, in 2023, I realize I might have missed the boat. No more excuses!
I had neither the interest nor the experience, nor the confidence in building wallets, as my primary focus was on building on-chain apps from as early as 2017. Yet, my professional journey led me to unexpected places, enabling me to build various types of wallets and unexpectedly thrust me into crypto and web3 R&D.
Now, armed with experience in building cryptographic systems, mobile wallets, and a robust understanding of JavaScript, against the backdrop of the mainstream adoption of crypto through Layer 2 solutions, I'm finally ready to reignite my passion for on-chain development. I've chosen to immerse myself in mastering solidity techniques, a decision rooted in my belief that this could be a long-term compounding investment as the world transitions fully to on-chain technologies over the next two decades.
To be honest, this revelation is embarrassingly late, especially considering I've been closely observing this ecosystem for years. However, as they say, better late than never. I eventually realized it’s a matter of commitment, singular focus, choice, which stem from conviction, grounded in perspective. It took me a while to build these qualities, shaped by discipline and a consistent routine, in my opinion.
My focus is crystal clear now: hone my on-chain coding skills daily, strive for mastery, and craft something of significance. Through this newsletter, I'll document my web3 journey weekly, sharing the highs, lows, and everything in between. These commitments are my sole focus, inspired by the wisdom that "Focus is saying no.”
I invite you to follow my journey, find inspiration, and be my accountability partner. Here's to a focused, transformative journey ahead!
