Ancient Greece and Farcaster share more in common than you think. In Raphael's "School of Athens" pictured above, you step into a previous world where the greatest, boldest and most curious minds of ancient Greece gathered to orchestrate though the complex network of thoughts that was their hive mind.
At the center of this universe we see the great Plato, talking to his protégé and partner-in-thought-crime Aristotle while others gathered to experience these two intellectual heavyweights engage in a cerebral sparring match. Zoom in and you'll see Plato pointing his finger higher↑ to the heavens. Many believe this is symbolic of his Theory on Forms, which argues that there exists a realm of perfect, immutable truths that transcend the physical world. One could then easily see how this intertwines into today’s cryptographic ethos, where the pursuit of flawless, unalterable codes seeks to anchor our most ethereal digital dreams to the solid ground of reality.
Just as the School of Athens sought to unveil fundamental truths- crypto communities are working diligently to create a new paradigm for human interaction and exchange. Merging immutability and integrity into the global fabric of society, shifting the internet into Phase III of it's story.
Diving into the depths of Farcaster, it seems we're on the verge of a linguistic revolution where "$HIGHER" and "$DEGEN" aren't just words or tags, they are ideas with a pulse pumped by the collective might of the community. It's like the secret handshake of the exponential age - bringing us back to the days when "LOL," "#tbt," and "#OOTD" were the exclusive lingo of the Web 2.0 tribes. Back then this slang made you the cool kid within that tribe. Today, within the bustling realm of this digital agoras, flashing "69 $DEGEN" in the comments not only gives you street cred with the community, but you also help turn an immutable thought into a valued idea.
But, what is value? Outside of the sentimental occasions, society at large tends to measure value with a price tag, but if you look deeper, you'll see that prices are much more than a few digits and decimals written on a piece of paper. Prices are mathematical narrators telling the entire life story of an idea- from its eureka moment in the shower to its standing ovation in the market square. In a paper-based world, the valuation of a price is an intricate ballet of educated guesses, disappearing data, and ballpark figures. Yet, within the realm of computational conversation- thoughts are testaments, ideas are treasures, prices are stories and Farcaster is the world's digital Dionysus (the first Greek theatre).
Fast forward a few millennia from Plato's Theory of Forms, and now we have a legion of jpeg characters slapping a "$" symbol in front of every word they can think of, like they're playing "pin the green candle on the idea." Maybe they just want to get themselves a lambo? Maybe they want to get someone in Kenya a goat? Maybe they're on a philosophical quest trying to capture the eternal and real? Or maybe they just want this epic story to keep going HIGHER ↑.
Within thoughtspace we honor the past and build the future. We look forward to connecting with you all as we march forward into this new school of thought.
Stay tuned for more...
