Recap: “To stay youthful, stay useful”
Last weekend, I competed in the Chiropractic flag-football games in St Louis, Missouri. My team ended up going 1-3, which sucked, but we put up a lot of points and I was able to get nearly everyone a touchdown. I was satisfied by my performance as the QB, though I had a few careless interceptions. I ended up with 16 TDs and 6 Ints.
As someone who is used to playing with the best weapons in the state of Oregon (Haas, Morton, Powell), it took some getting used to playing with my new teammates. I’m used to being able to throw it up anywhere within their catching radius and being confident that they’ll come down with the ball. We also were the only school that didn’t get to formulate our own team or have a flag-football season prior to this tournament. Not to make excuses buttt we were kind of at a disadvantage. I love a good challenge thooo.
The best part of the trip was exploring St Louis. We hung out with students from other schools, played pool at a bar, and went and toured the St Louis arch. My favorite part was learning from the older chiropractic students. I learned how to adjust shoulders and even a unique way to adjust the cervical spine. Even though I got back on Sunday extremely tired, it was a great trip that I will remember for the rest of my life. Next year, Parker orange will be the champions the Chiropractic games…
This week, I had a Physiology, Clinical Biomechanics, and Biochemistry exams. It was also my last week having to attend my labs. It was the last full week, and now I must prepare for lab practicals and final exams.
This upcoming Thursday, I’m going to the Cowboys-Giants game with my friend Alexa. Afterwards, my dads side will have flown in for thanksgiving and I will be spending the weekend with them. I’m so excited to spend some time with my parents and siblings.
Thanksgiving: “When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. When life is bitter, say thank you and grow.”
With Thanksgiving in less than a week, I wanted to make a list of things that I’m thankful for. Here are a handful:
My family — With their belief in me, I feel like I am able to accomplish anything that I set my mind to and they will be there cheering me on. What they provide to me, physically, emotionally and financially, I hope to repay it x2.
My education — Parker has provided me an abundance of knowledge, opportunities to redefine myself, and a set of values to follow on a daily basis. I'm so grateful to have chosen Parker and attend at the time I did.
My friends — My friends from Oregon give me a reason to keep working towards my goals. I want to make them proud and come back and show them how much I’ve learned. My new friends from Texas help push me to reach my full potential. As someone that was worried about making friends when I first moved, I’m glad I’ve been able to mesh with many students and create unbreakable bonds with them.
My health — I have been struggling with staying healthy as of late. I’ve pulled my hamstring, rolled my ankle, and cut open my eye. Luckily, I have recovered and suffered no serious consequences. This gives me more reason to hone in on my craft and maintain a level of fitness that is up to my standards.
My energy — With everything that has been going on: school, injuries, busy schedules, etc., I am glad that I have been able to keep a consistent and positive attitude. I credit myself for being exactly who I want to be: a bright, flexible, motivated, and conscientious kid. I know that down the road, my older self will be proud of the way I handled my youth.
Q: What are some things that you are thankful for? Let me know a few of them
Conclusion: “Time together as a family is a gift”
I am entering week 13 of my trimester. I seriously can’t fathom how quickly Tri-2 has gone by. I can’t wait to spend Thanksgiving with my family, then go to Nicaragua and finally Oregon to wrap up 2022.
It’s also about time that I start thinking about my New Year’s resolution and some goals I want to achieve in the year 2023. This is one of my favorite activities as it gives me extra incentive to push my limits and get out of my comfort zone. I also need to review past goals and see if I completed what I had listed.
Make sure to write your goals down with pen and paper!!!
I am thankful for so many people, places and things. I am especially thankful for those that continue to read these newsletters and are curious to know what I’ve been getting myself into. I am thankful for this platform to express my thoughts, ideas, and questions.
I hope everyone has a great time with their loved ones this holiday season.
