In this series, we shine a light on the uniquely talented creators that have joined the Uptick Network. Introducing the artists, showcasing their work, and interviewing them on the thought process behind their art, their experience as a creator, and their journey into this new and exciting space. This is the first in many series to come.

Sevinç Teber (otherwise known as ‘marypoppins’) is a stained glass artist based out of Bodrum, Turkey. Ever since childhood she was drawn to her father’s stained glass works, inspiring her to go on to pursue art as a deep passion in her life.
Although Sevinç studied Economics at university, her favourite thing to do has always been to produce art. After college, she started designing stained glass at her father’s workshop and developed a skillset in digital drawing software. It just so happened that the NFT world’s integration of digital technology and art caught her attention, which ultimately led to the creation of her ‘Badass Cat’ collection!
Since I grew up in a designer/maker family, I think creating new things has always been something I have loved since I was a child. I studied economics, but on the one hand, I continued to produce handcrafted things. My father is a stained glass artist and thanks to him I was able to learn stained glass art while acquainting myself with digital drawing techniques in order to assist the creation process. Thus, I really started to enjoy constructing new forms in the digital world.

I live in Bodrum, Turkey. I don’t think NFT is very common in Turkey yet. Currently, it seems like an area of interest only for those who deal with art and design.
I am literally in love with cats. I had a cat who was with me for 17 years and her friendship gave me the opportunity to observe and understand cats better. I guess that’s why I thought of drawing a cat as soon as I started drawing on my computer.

The excitement I experience as I make my dreams come true inspires me.
Art gives me an area to create freely where I can express myself better because there is no time and space restrictions. So, definitely yes.

First of all, I want to be a part of this NFT world as a successful creator. And of course, I like it when my work gets love and attention. It’s always a win when you can put a smile on people’s faces via your art and design.

Cats and their vivid characters provoke my imagination. I find their behaviours very admirable. Each one is unique and very cool. I also find their unpredictability very badass. Sometimes by imagining cats as superheroes and villains, or by just looking at my neighbour’s crazy cat from the balcony, that’s how I mostly get inspired. Then I collect all that and make some research as well, so that I can complete the badass look.
I use Adobe Illustrator 2021 on Honor i5 MagicBook.

Yes, it’s Kung Fu Master Pai Mei. I had a lot of fun practicing this piece in particular because the wisdom on the face of this cat on my everyday walking trail reminded me of the Kung Fu master from Kill Bill and I dedicate this piece to that cat.

I first heard about NFTs in a podcast program that I was listening to during the first months of 2020. They were discussing the creation and sharing processes.
In our age, the real and virtual worlds are becoming a single one. All the renewed forms of the real world we live in come to life with digital transformation. For me, NFTs mean being a part of this world as well as keeping up with the novelties and advancements thanks to it.

My boyfriend discovered the platform before me. He encouraged me to share my drawings. When I checked over the platform, I liked the works and I felt that I could express myself freely here and I registered.

I love Bodrum, the town I live in. A quiet, historic seaside town. Here we can be in contact with nature and animals more quickly than in the city. That’s why I feel lucky. People can be more creative when they are happy and spiritually in a good place.
