VPNL
October 19, 2025
Today, we’re excited to announce that VPNL is integrating with DIA Lumina, the first fully on-chain oracle network, to provide trustless, permissionless reputation verification for solvers in the Open Intents Framework.
This partnership transforms VPNL’s decentralization timeline, enabling us to eliminate centralization risks 6 months faster and 27% cheaper than building custom infrastructure from scratch—all while strengthening our security model through crypto-economic mechanisms.
When we launched VPNL’s architecture, we identified a critical tradeoff: Phase 1’s centralized verification was necessary for accuracy during the prototype phase, but represented a known weakness that needed to be resolved.
Our original plan involved building custom infrastructure over 6-9 months:
Design zero-knowledge proof systems
Build permissionless verification infrastructure
Implement staking and slashing mechanisms
Audit and deploy
Cost: $20k
Timeline: 6-9 months
Risk: Building unproven infrastructure
Rather than reinvent the wheel, we’re integrating with DIA Lumina—a production-ready, battle-tested oracle network that already provides exactly what VPNL needs:
DIA Lumina is the first fully on-chain oracle network with:
Permissionless participation: Anyone can run feeder nodes
Crypto-economic security: Staking + slashing model (not trust-based)
On-chain computation: All oracle operations on Lasernet (Arbitrum Orbit L2)
Cross-chain delivery: 140+ blockchains via DIA Spectra
zkTLS integration: Cryptographic proof of off-chain data
Lasernet mainnet is live today with an active feeder community and production-validated security.
VPNL verifies solver reputation. DIA Lumina verifies oracle data. Both require:
Trustless verification of off-chain information
Permissionless participation
Crypto-economic security
Cross-chain distribution
Privacy-preserving commitments
VPNL becomes DIA’s first non-price oracle use case, proving Lumina can handle any data type—not just price feeds.
Original Plan (Custom Build):
Month 0-4: Phase 1 (Centralized)
Month 4-13: Phase 2 (Build custom infrastructure)
Month 13-19: Phase 3 (DAO)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Total: 19 months to full decentralization
New Plan (DIA Lumina):
Month 0-4: Phase 1 (Centralized)
Month 4-7: Phase 2 (Integrate with Lumina)
Month 7-13: Phase 3 (DAO)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Total: 13 months to full decentralization
Result: 6 months faster (31% improvement)
Component | Custom Build | DIA Integration | Savings |
|---|---|---|---|
Phase 2 Development | $20k | $8k | $12k (60%) |
Total Project Cost | $45k | $33k | $12k (27%) |
From trust-based to crypto-economic:
Phase 1 (Current):
Single centralized verifier
Risk: Single point of failure
Duration: 3-4 months (short, mitigated)
Phase 2 (DIA Lumina - Month 4-7):
Permissionless feeder network
10,000 DIA stake per feeder (~$10k)
20-30% slashing for fraud
Multi-feeder consensus (3+ required)
Risk eliminated
Instead of building trust, we’re buying security through staking.

Cross-chain delivery (140+ chains)
Honest Feeder:
Stake: 10,000 DIA
Rewards: ~20-25% APY
Break-even: 2-3 months
Malicious Feeder:
Stake at risk: 10,000 DIA
Slashing: 20-30% ($2-3k loss)
Detection: High (multi-feeder consensus)
Expected value: Negative
Collusion (3+ feeders):
Stake at risk: 30,000+ DIA
Slashing: $6-9k loss
Coordination: Complex
Expected value: Highly negative
Result: Economic rationality ensures honest behavior.
VPNL maintains two-layer governance for clear separation of concerns:
VPNL DAO (Application Layer):
Controls reputation methodology
Sets risk parameters (α, β)
Defines scoring weights
Manages verification periods
DIA DAO (Infrastructure Layer):
Controls feeder requirements
Sets slashing percentages
Manages consensus thresholds
Oversees reward rates
Why this matters: Neither DAO can unilaterally compromise the system. VPNL controls “what is good reputation” while DIA provides neutral, secure infrastructure.
Faster integration: DIA Lumina launches in Q1 2026
Multi-chain reputation: Query VPNL data on 140+ chains
Lower latency: <200ms cross-chain queries
Redundancy: Dual-source (Arbitrum + Lasernet)
Permissionless verification: No centralized gatekeeper after Month 4
Faster processing: Automated feeder consensus vs manual review
Privacy preserved: zkTLS proofs (don’t share API keys)
Universal reputation: One verification, works everywhere
Public goods collaboration: Two independent projects strengthening each other
Credible neutrality: Infrastructure not controlled by VPNL
Proven security: Battle-tested vs unproven custom system
Network effects: Shared security budget, cross-pollination
Smart contract audit
Arbitrum mainnet deployment

By integrating with DIA Lumina, VPNL accelerates its path to credible neutrality while strengthening security through proven crypto-economic mechanisms.
This partnership demonstrates the power of composability in Web3: two independent public goods projects combining forces to deliver more value, faster, and more securely than either could alone.
Together, we’re building the trustless data infrastructure that the Open Intents Framework needs to scale.
Let’s make reputation infrastructure boring—so intent routing can be exciting.
