MUSIC NFTS 101: First of all, what do you actually own when u get a music NFT? All depends on individual conditions of the drop. Eg, you may get:
⁃ rights to listen to a song ⁃ above +use in personal videos (eg on YouTube) ⁃ above +commercial use ⁃ above +publishing rights (eg upload on Spotify) ⁃ % of royalties
So when deciding on whether to get a music NFT, you should ask yourself: 1. What rights am I getting exactly? 2. Do I like this track/ artist + do I think it/they will do well? 3. Do I want it as investment? If yes, then do the above points add up?
MUSIC NFT PLATFORMS: General note on music NFT platforms: most feel more like Web2 with no clear plans for decentralization yet. This could change in the future, but we’re not too optimistic about an imminent airdrop etc. Bagging valuable NFTs is a better play in the short term, in our opinion.
