How to use DeFi Saver to lend and borrow
DeFi Saver has been around for a long time and many are familiar with it. However some new users have asked how they can start using it, as they may not be familiar with the interface. In this short article, we will see exactly how we can use it with simple steps to lend and borrow. Recently, Defi Saver launched on L2s Arbitrum and Optimism as well, so we will be seeing how we can use it on Arbitrum as the gas fees are considerably low when compared to Ethereum mainnet. Also, it gives a good ...
Mint Zerion DNA NFT easily from desktop, without importing waller seed into mobile app
Zerion have launched the new Zerion DNA NFTs which change according to your onchain activity. While the NFT is free to mint, one must claim it from the mobile wallet by importing your seed. Some have said they are not comfortable importing their seed, and this also becomes difficult for hardware wallet users. So here is how to mint it directly from the contract. This is Zerion’s DNA NFT contract: as you can see, its a popular one with over 22,000 claims already. You can use the “mint” function ...

Hello frens, we have been testing the Merge to become eligible for the NFTs, and we have already seen how to setup a simple smart contract. If you are further interested in testing the merge, you can becoming a validator on Kiln testnet and claim another higher level NFT!
So lets hop right into this! This process is simple and requires just a few clicks, no coding or command line! 🎉
To setup a validator, you need a minimum of 32 ETH on the Kiln testnet. Currently, there are 2 faucets that can get you 32 ETH:
Kiln faucet from ethdevops.io - this is claimable only to a ENS domain. If you have an ENS, you can claim 32 ETH right away.
A PoW mining faucet - kiln-faucet.pk-net.net - In this faucet, you need to PoW mine for a few hours to get 32 Kiln testnet eth. Using 24 workers, getting to 32 ETH would take roughly 4 hours. You can use this if you dont have an ENS.
So from the above 2 faucets, you can choose which works for you and get your 32 ETH. From the next step onwards, we will assume you have the 32 ETH and we will see how exactly to set up your validator deposit.
Let’s go to the Kiln testnet homepage on Ethereum.org (known as Kiln Launchpad) and here, click on “Become a Validator” option on top. You will be shown the best practices, steps, risks etc for your information. You can read these and click Continue/Accept in each section. Don’t worry if you dont understand using terminal, that is not required for just setting up a validator.

Once you finish all the screens and accept the steps, click on Continue.
Now, you need to choose your execution client.

For simplicity purpose, just select Nethermind, and in the bottom of the page, select Continue.
Now, we have to choose consensus client. Again, for simplicity’s purpose, just choose Nimbus and select Continue from the bottom of the page.
A Eth 2.0 staking key is a separate key that has to be created, in addition to your wallet’s key. For creating the key pair, you will download the software ”Wagyu Key Gen app” from GitHub based on your OS (win/mac/linux)

Then choose your OS, and in the “Download Key Gen GUI app” tab, select the “Download from GitHub” link. You will be directed to GitHub to download the keygen file.

Once you download the file, install it and run the file.

Click on “Create New Secret Recovery Phrase”. Click “Create” in the next screen to continue. The key generator will create a 24 word phrase, which you need to save in a secure location. Once saving the phrase, click on “Next”. You have to confirm you have saved the phrase. Paste the phrase again here to confirm, then click “Check”.
In the next screen, select no. of keys as 1, and enter a password. In the next screen, you will confirm the password.
In the next screen, you will create the validator key files. Click on “Browse” and choose a local location in your computer to save the file. For easy access, create a separate folder and select that location.
Finally, click “Create”.
The Keys will be created, and saved in the location. Two files : Keystore file (ex. keystore-xxxxxxx.json) and Deposit data file (ex. deposit_data-xxxxxx.json) will be created. Keep these files securely.
Now you can close the KeyGen app and return back to the Kiln Launchpad. In the bottom of the page where we downloaded the KeyGen, select the “I am keeping my keys safe” checkbox, and click “Continue”.
In this stage, you have to upload the deposit_data file created in the last step and saved in your local folder.

In this stage, you need to connect to your Metamask wallet. Its preferable to not use a hardware wallet, and instead use a local Metamask wallet.
Once you select the wallet, the page will show you your wallet details.

In the next page, you will be shown the summary of your Launchpad staking, along with few disclaimers.

In the final step, you will submit the deposit transaction. This page will show your selected key, status as “Ready” and the “Send Deposit” button.

Once you click on the transaction, Metamask will popup and you can submit it just like a regular transaction.

Now, we will wait for the transaction to confirm.

Once the transaction has confirmed, you can see the link to the transaction on beaconchain explorer. Click on “Continue”.

That is all! Your stake will take 2048 blocks to activate. You can follow the confirmations in the beaconchain explorer link from the previous page!
Now you can become eligible for the Validator NFT as well! 🥳
