These are a few characters I know I wouldn’t be able to stand.

And if you’re hoping for a quiet night in, forget it — Michael’s idea of a chill evening involves an impromptu, embarrassing karaoke session of “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” You wouldn’t have a dull moment, but at what cost?

Monica is the stereotypical “clean freak”. While it might seem like a dream to have a roommate who keeps everything spotless, the reality would be far from logical. Imagine being scolded for leaving a crumb on the counter or having your belongings “organised” without your consent. Monica would have you feeling like you’re living in a museum where everything is perfect — but you’re not allowed to touch anything. Barney’s “bro code” might sound cool, but when it’s 3 a.m., and you’re trying to sleep while he’s acting out a scene from Top Gun, it’s far from awesome. Barney has never met a suit that he didn’t leave lying around, so don’t even get me started on the mess.

Jess is quirky, lively, and has a golden heart. However, her endless enthusiasm and peculiar habits would wear on even the most understanding roommates. Think of all the times you’d come home to find Jess leading a spontaneous sing-along or working on her latest DIY craft project — which would inevitably end up covering the entire apartment in glitter. Plus, her overly optimistic pep talks might make you want to hide in your room when all you want is a quiet night with Netflix.

Dwight Schrute isn’t just a beet farmer — he’s also the roommate who takes security a little too seriously. Expect hidden surveillance cameras, regular fire drills, and a constant bombardment of questions about your “loyalty” and beet consumption. Staying with Dwight is like living in a constant state of mild paranoia. He’s always one step ahead, whether it’s protecting your Wi-Fi password or questioning the freshness of your organic veggies. Not to mention the Schrute family customs — I would stay away unless you’re prepared for unexpected initiation rites. I guess he and Sheldon would hit it off as roommates.

Everybody has that one friend who overthinks everything, but Chidi goes above and beyond indecisiveness. As a moral philosophy professor, Chidi’s life revolves around ethics, making him the ultimate good guy — but also the worst roommate ever. While he’s endearing in his pursuit of doing what’s right, his lack of indecisiveness makes him extremely difficult to stand. Imagine coming home after a long day and all you want is to order takeout and relax, what should be a five-minute decision can turn into a two-hour discussion about the ethical implications of supporting local businesses versus reducing your carbon footprint by choosing a vegan option. His love and passion for philosophy means every activity, no matter how trivial, becomes an in-depth conversation about ethics. While Chidi’s heart is in the right place, living with him would be anything but pleasant.

Troy and Abed are the ultimate dynamic duo — but as my roommates? maybe not so much. Their infectious energy, friendship, and endless creativity make them a joy to watch. While they might seem like the perfect pair to live with, sharing an apartment with Troy and Abed could quickly turn from fun to overwhelming.

Living with them screams “No day is ordinary”. They’re constantly cooking up wild schemes, from building blanket forts that take over the entire apartment to hosting imaginary early morning shows. While this level of creativity is great for keeping life interesting, it can be exhausting when all you want is space. You might come home to find your living room transformed into the set of Inspector Spacetime or wake up to a full-blown Star Wars reenactment. Their antics are fun, but they’re also relentless.

These characters are some of the most popular in television, and for good reason. But as much as we love watching their antics from the comfort of our couches, sharing a living space with them would be a whole different story.
