There’s always something special and worth remembering about the first time, it is quite an experience you can’t forget. I love spending time near the water; beaches, and swimming pools, it just makes me feel at peace and in awe. My first time at a waterfall was an adventure I will forever cherish.
Waterfalls have been on my bucket list. During my visit to Ghana, I included it in the itinerary of places to visit. I took a bus from Accra to the Eastern region, which was about a 3–4 hour drive. Before visiting the waterfall, I stopped at the botanical garden, to learn interesting facts about plants and trees.
The drive to the waterfall was an experience in itself, road trips are fun for me anyway, and driving through forests, and seeing landscapes gives me joy. I couldn’t stop taking pictures and videos of everything I could see, my camera working overtime to keep up with my eyes.
I had a very nice and patient driver, I met him at the bus park and he took my friend and me to the waterfall, waited for us, and brought us back, he even made sure we were not overcharged to enter because they saw that we were tourists and wanted us to pay twice the fee and he didn’t even charge us so much at the end of the trip. God bless him wherever he is today.
The hike to the waterfall was a bit challenging, my sandals even spoilt at a point. P.S. I didn’t think I was going to walk so far, I would have worn sneakers. It took about 20 minutes to get to the main waterfall, the driver also walked with us, which made it even easier because I probably would have gotten lost.
As I got closer to the waterfall, I could hear the distant roar of water crashing down, the sound grew louder with each step, building up the anticipation. When I finally caught my first look at the waterfall, I was lost for words, the sight of water flowing down was nothing short of spectacular.
Standing at the base of the waterfall, I felt nothing but excitement about nature. It was a sensory overload — the sound, the sight, — all coming together to create a moment of pure bliss.
Of course, no trip with Eniola is complete without taking pictures. I spent enough time taking pictures (even though we got there quite late). Yet, no photo could truly do justice to the experience. The real deal was the memory stamped in my mind, the feeling of standing in the presence of something so magnificent.
My first visit to a waterfall was a journey of awe and inspiration. It reminded me of the beauty and power of nature and the importance of embracing new experiences. On my way back, I felt a sense of fulfilment. This adventure just made me realize that it is important to step out of my comfort zone and explore God’s green earth.
I look forward to visiting more stunning waterfalls in the future. If you’ve never visited a waterfall, I highly recommend it. Let nature’s wonders inspire you, as they did me.
