"This must be the address," John thought as he exited the Uber - nervously fidgeting with the strap of his bag. But where was the house? He saw only skyscrapers all around. According to his aunt, it was supposed to be a big house with a large garden. A big house—here in the middle of town? Impossible! Someone with such a place must be a wizard or something. Speaking of wizards, why was he even here?
A loud noise interrupted his thoughts. A car drove by—111. The next car—777. What on earth! Synchronicities had recently reached a surreal level, making him feel like he was living in a bizarre dream and they showed no signs of stopping. Was it just a coincidence, or was there something more to these numbers? The Matrix was clearly messing with him. What was the Matrix, anyway?
Just as he pondered this, his phone buzzed with an iMessage from his new teacher: "I can see you, but you can't see me." John was now utterly confused. Another message followed: "Just enter that big building in front and come in! DO IT NOW!"
With no hesitation left, John entered the first skyscraper and disappeared from sight.
John is the protagonist of this story and has recently been encouraged by his aunt to learn from a specific teacher "all about the matrix" after synchronicities have started to increase a lot.
A synchronicity is defined here as an event that is very unlikely in its combination of "random events". It is also something you cannot easily predict.
For example, if all cars have “YYY” numbers, it wouldn't be unlikely to see them. But if they have a random distribution and you’ve never seen such a car all day, then suddenly two appear at once, that’s an indication. The biggest tell is that the event happens after John is asking the question “Why am I even here?”.
This is REALITY directly interacting with your thoughts. This interaction distinguishes a “random event” from a synchronicity.
The second teaching is not to hesitate or procrastinate, but to "DO IT NOW!"
If you were a surfer, you’d want to go to the shore when the “surf is high.” If you hesitate, that moment is gone. Worse, if you had procrastinated on what you needed to do that day, you wouldn’t have the time, flexibility, or ability to focus on surfing and catching the wave later.
Hence, procrastination not only delays what needs to be done but also decreases your flexibility to delay things when useful. It crushes your spirit because you can’t do what you love, even though in theory, you could have.
On the other hand, once you complete the tasks or errands of the day, you can fully focus on what you love to do.
In the story, John hesitates to take action and is trapped in his mind. A good teacher usually won’t tell someone what to do, but will guide them on how to achieve their goals. However, without the strong encouragement of “Do it now,” John would probably still be standing there. So, stronger encouragement can be useful at times.
